1 /5 Lorinda Herrod: I have no respect for Dr Patel . I believe he can do his job as a gastroenterologist , but I dont believe he cares at all about his patients. I had missed two appointments with him because I was sick and in the hospital both times. The very first thing he said to me when I did make the new appointment was to chew me out for not making those appointments, even though I had called in to tell them I couldnt be there. He spent more time chewing me out then he did talking about the procedure I was going to have. He told me I better not miss one more appointment. Also that he probably could not get it done in the current year. I suppose to make me feel like the new year was coming and I would have to start over with my deductible with my insurance. However the scheduling person was very nice and got me scheduled very quickly with no problems. The day I was there for my procedure, when he walked in the room the first thing he said was, "Well, I see you made it this time." During the procedure he found something unusual and recommended that I go to an infectious disease doctor. He said there was only one in the area and that I might have to go to Lubbock. I already had an infectious disease doctor and Patels comments made me wonder if mine had moved away. But he referred me to the one that was local. When I got back in my car I called my own infectious disease doctor to find out if he was still in the next town. He was. I am immediately got a referral from my primary care physician to my infectious disease doctor. I called Dr Patels office to get my information, the orders that he had sent to the first doctor to MY doctor. I tried and tried and tried to call and did speak with some nice desk receptionists. Who told me they just ran the front desk and they couldnt do what I was asking. So they transferred me to the medical records lady and I left several messages many times. Finally over a month later that lady finally returned my call and was very aggravated because I had kept calling and that they had already done what I needed (which they had not) I kept trying to explain but she was very very rude, never admitting that they had not done my what my simple request was. It was very clear that none of the people at the front desk had taken notes and that she had never listened to the messages I had left her. She was very rude and would not listen to me at all. She kept talking over me so she didnt have to listen to my request. She let me know that her name was Lenora and she is just about as rude as Dr Patel. I will not be going back to this doctor and would not recommend anybody to.
