    Museum of the Big Bend
Michael Monroe: So a museum at a small university in a small town. How good can that be? It can be GREAT! The Museum of the Big Bend was voted the #1 best small town museum in America. That should convince you to go! We were so impressed. A reasonably sized museum of the Big Bend area. Excursions, exploration, famous people, Texas Rangers, battles, skirmishes, trains, wagon trains, fossils, videos and more. Allow about 2 hours to see it all. Recommended for Teenagers and up.

Brown County Museum of History - Brownwood
    Brown County Museum of History
Brandy Bee Rose: This is my favorite place in all of Brownwood. It is the most underrated attraction we have - right in our own backyard. I’ve worked here and visited dozens of times, and I still never get tired of it. There’s always something new to learn or investigate about the fascinating story of the past. Brown County history is Texas History. It’s a progression through time from learning about the ancient ways of primitive peoples to the advances of medicine, agriculture, business, education, and more. There are specific exhibits to the county - featuring familiar local names and faces - but you’ll also see the impacts of war and technology that impacted the entire nation, and the world. The kids absolutely love it. In this day and age where every kid thing is brightly colored, they love to be able to see, touch, and experience real things. There is a lot of interactivity in the museum and they will leave wanting to come back for more. I encourage anyone to follow their Facebook and visit during their regular hours or during a special event. You WILL NOT be disappointed! They also have a $50 annual pass for families.

Barry & Kelli Jo Gurley: A beautiful park with nice hiking trails and very peaceful. The swimming area is good as far as lake swimming goes. We stayed in Council Bluff which has full hookups which is nice. Some of the sites won’t accommodate larger fifth wheel trailers though so choose your site carefully.
The Martin & Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum - Brownwood
The Martin & Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum
Gayathri Iyer: It was one of the best experiences ever. We really loved it. It is worth the drive and visit. They have a very fun train ride that even adults can sit. It’s free and they take us around 6 or 7 times. It’s such a fun experience and brought the kid back in me. My husband enjoyed it a lot of too. Inside they have two model trains that you can go inside and take a look. You can also go into the building where they give you free coffee, have a cute coffee shop and also they have so many model trains. Their set up is so beautiful. The people are also so friendly and hospitable and very knowledgeable. They showed us how they set it up and also different sizes of model trains that were available. Some are so tiny. We would definitely be back soon to see what else they have. If you have kids I would definitely recommend you to take them here
