Lake Brownwood State Park - Brownwood (TX)

5 /5 Barry & Kelli Jo Gurley: A beautiful park with nice hiking trails and very peaceful. The swimming area is good as far as lake swimming goes. We stayed in Council Bluff which has full hookups which is nice. Some of the sites won’t accommodate larger fifth wheel trailers though so choose your site carefully.

4 /5 Logan Jensen: The lake is getting pretty low. 9 feet low according to the lady at the front desk. However it is very lush and the facilities are impressive. The cabins and event halls look very well maintained. Every cabin and hall we saw was occupied. The day use swimming area is pretty low, you have to walk out quite a ways past the old shore line to reach the water, but the picnic tables and grills are well maintained and under shady trees. The trails are lush and well maintained with plenty of stone benches and tables to picnic at along the trail

5 /5 Brian Jones: I hiked most/all of the trails here recently. Overall, I think I walked close to 7 or 8 miles. There is a loop and then a couple trails along the large lake. So, a bit of variety. The cabins and camping sites looked nice too. There are some signs of spring right now, which is nice. The park is a bit out of the way, but if you like to hike then Id recommend it.

5 /5 Eloisa: Love the park my family enjoy the trails, and the beautifu view from our RV. Family friendly, dog friendly, kids friendly and clean bathrooms. We really like the open space, the lake for fiahing, hiking, my kida love to bike most of the time. Bathrooms are keep very clean and showers have a heater to keep warm. Enjoy our time there.

5 /5 Greg: Me and my wife had our wedding at the rec. center in Brownwood Lake State Park. The experience was very good, so I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a venue location. The rec center has very appealing architecture which looks great on photos. Natural lighting is phenomenal - provided the sun is out of course. Hardwood floors and exposed roof rafters give the interior a "medieval castle" feel. There are two adjoining rooms and a kitchenette. The main room has a beautiful fireplace and can hold six 6 foot round tables for an event. The adjoining room - although not as decorative, is slightly bigger. We used it as a dance floor and for the cake cutting ceremony. The kitchenette is functional. There is a great big refrigerator which can hold some big cakes! Our cake was fairly modest and had no trouble fitting. The stove is a regular household item - nothing to write home about. The bar also leaves a bit to be desired, but otherwise everything went as planned. We planned to have the wedding ceremony in the outdoor area behind the rec. center. We did manage to do this, but I would recommend this as a good option. It was too windy, uncomfortably warm and too sunny, despite this being the end of October. If youre planning a wedding I would advise against using the outside area since you just cant predict the weather on the day of... All being said, this was a great experience and great memories. Highly recommended.
