1 /5 Elyse Hamilton: My mother was admitted to the hospital. The staff overall was very kind. My mother is a cardiac patient who was there for a non cardiac reason, but still needed a consultation with the cardiologist regarding her treatment. My mother had questions regarding her treatment. When she brought her concerns up the cardiologist was very dismissive and down right rude and condescending, he expressed her complaints had nothing to do and he had other patients to see. He continued to be argumentative with my mother. He was so focused on what he did not do, that he overlooked our questions about the results of imagining regarding her heart, in fact when we asked about the results of the imagining he threw his hands up and walked out of the room. We were appalled. In all my years working in Healthcare and around pretty arrogant physicians, I have never seen a provider behave in a childish way. He was unethical and did not provide adequate care. He needs to be held accountable for that type of behavior. My mother was scared to remain in the hospital after that interaction. We asked for a second opinion to which we were told that wasnt possible due to the hospital advocate not working on Saturdays. Im pretty sure my mother was entitled to a second opinion, but she was discharged home instead. This experience was humiliating. The cardiologists behavior was unacceptable.
