1 /5 jj142798: I had to take my Neighbor, she is 75 years old to Seton medical center ER today late afternoon, I brought her in because I think she has a UTI. When we came in, the nurse took her blood pressure, gave her a cup to pee and told her they will draw blood. The nurse told her when she is done they will call her in and take care of her. My neighbor and I Set down , but after one a half hour, she had still her urine cup in her hand. My neighbor got up and walked to the nurse and ask her What to do with her urine cup and when she get drawn her blood. The nurse told her give me a moment, because I have to take care of the line. So my neighbor came back and we waited. I, myself looked around, and there was a patient who drew up. A nurse came and cleaned it. Instead pull the patient in a room, because he was very sick, they let him sit outside on the chair. Then he started throwing up again and again, and the nurse came and cleaned it up. Then the Patient peed on himself, and the nurse cleaned it up. The nurse forgot to clean the urine under the chair. Then the registration lady called the patient in, and he sat in the chair and answered question. In the meantime, a married Couple came in and set on the chair where the patient set before. The urine was still under the chair. So my neighbor got up and got to the people and told them to sit somewhere else, because of what happened with this patient. Then the patient came out from the Registration and he set back in his chair. The registration lady cleaned her hand, but never the chair. The Registration lady called another patient in and the lady sat in the chair who was contaminated?
I was in shock! So after 2 1/2 hours waiting, my neighbor got up to the nursing station and ask friendly What’s going on ? The nurse was very nice first when we came in , but she was not so nice no more . So my neighbor told her she get home and ask her what she have to do with the urine and she was like in a ( over worked) ruff tone : put it in the trash and my neighbor then ask what she have to do with the blood pressure cuff and she told her put it in the trash too.
So we walked out after 3 hours sitting, my neighbor holding the urine cuff , got entertained with the patient who drew up, urinated, saw the Registration lady , cleaned her hand , but never the chair. Saw a lot of people coming in. Some, seems to got out and they came in later.
There are so many people who came in and only one Nurse in the nursing Station?
This patient who drew up, needed to be in a room, because You will never know what his medical condition is or was!
I was in shock was I experienced today in your hospital!
My neighbor was not very happy after three hours waiting time. This was a waste of time and I told her don’t worry. See your doctor tomorrow.
She told me never say the word Seton again!
