A little dirty and you have to keep your eye out on traffic . It’s usually busy and you have to wait for a swing. Its shaded with a tarp and has great cushion like grass. Lots of activities going on at this park.
Costumes of the Americas Museum - Brownsville Ayde Huerta: I enjoyed looking at the costumes and thinking about what it was like at the time when the owners were wearing them. I spoke with the attendant and she mentioned how careful they have to be to keep these dresses and outfits from deteriorating. She mentioned the other countries and time periods they have in storage and how they rotate every so often. I plan to go back when those are displayed too. Its a small museum, but very interesting indeed.
Washington Plaza - Brownsville Roxy M: It was during Charro Days where they hold the Sombrero Fest, it was just too packed for my taste, the food, snacks, and beer were too expensive and we could barely walk. I wouldnt recommend taking small children after 8pm.
The Dancy Building - Brownsville Deborah Henson: What a beautiful historic building! Its a self-guided your, but there are plenty of security guards that are more than willing to give you nuggets of information. Throughout enjoyed the visit. If youre into period architecture this is the place to see! The courtroom is awesome, and the dome is breathtaking.
Morningside Park - Brownsville Cynthia Ramirez: Had a to attend a softball tournament for my daughter’s team . Now a bit shaken up after what transpired after the week my daughter’s team tournament. Not sure if we will be returning to play there again.
Brownsville Museum of Fine Art - Brownsville L Arredondo: Its a small town museum and reflects that spirit. It is primarily 4 galleries and on the day we visited hosted a main exhibition by a national artist held in 2 galleries and in the ancillary wings, there was a group exhibition of local talents and a solo by a regional artist. Honestly wasnt expecting the Menil but assumed that the lights would of been turned on to view the paintings. Overall a cute and raw fine arts haven.
Lincoln Park - Brownsville Joel Ruiz: Very calm and relaxing during the day...plenty of big trees for shade....public restrooms available.
Monte Bella Trails Park - Brownsville Juan Sanchez: I went there for a Trail Run 5k. It was my first time there, honestly I was pleased at how peaceful and clean the trail was. Definitely would go again for another visit. Please ignore the heavy breathing in my vid as it was the first time I ran a 5k since 2018
Dixieland Park - Harlingen Stephanie Riffee: This park may not look like much at first but it has a very large area for frisbee golf. It has a covered area for hosting events and a nice view of the water reserve you obviously cant fish there but a water view is still a plus. The playground isnt one of the newer models its definitely still safe and to be this gives into more sense of Whimsy as it has a different variety of colors as opposed to the newer ones Ive noticed popping around here being more blue than anything other colors. It also has a few climbing features that I havent seen at the more popular Park either. A great place to have a picnic I love coming here in the morning when theres hardly any people or sometimes no one else at all.
Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum - Harlingen Minnie R.: Im a sucker for history and this was wonderful. Loved being able to walk through the historical homes and buildings. Really takes you back to a time of new beginnings. Would definitely recommend, mostly because people need to go to keep history alive.
