1 /5 Donna Godinez: Doctor Charles Thomas Spencer
I went to the emergency room at 8:30 AM this morning. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice. Didn’t take but maybe five minutes for them to call me back. Got to a room gentleman that took my blood pressure was really nice and then a lady came in after She just looked at me asked me how tall I was and how much do I weigh What looks like to me was she was taking notes on a piece of paper that had other written notes and then another guy came in sat down. I turned around and said hello to him. He tells me he’s Dr. Spencer. What can I do for you? I told him I was not feeling well. He asked me what was wrong. I told him my back hurts. My chest hurts. My stomach hurts from coughing, and between all of those answers, he kept interrupting me wanting to let me know that people are not taking the flu shot, but that doesn’t mean that you have the flu. I will listen to your lungs to See how They sound. I asked him if I could get x-rays to make sure I don’t have pneumonia because my mother has gotten it twice he checked my ears said they’re filled with fluid more than likely. I have a virus. Said there is nothing we can do for that. Asked me what I was taking it home and what medicine am I taking other than for the cough? I started to give him a list of the medications that my doctor has me on because I always want to make sure that if any other doctor prescribes a medication it’s important that they know what it is that I take and in between giving him the names of them, he is telling me that those are not good. The doctor knows nothing about me. He was rude. Very cold and doesn’t speak to you with concern that you are there to get help with whatever you are sick from. Took no bloodwork didn’t do any X-rays I was told to Sudafed is bad. NyQuil with honey is bad and what I needed to take was ibuprofen Tylenol, and maybe drink pure honey. I felt like this guy was very discriminatory towards me because of the way I look.
I was wearing my basketball shorts with a hoodie jacket. He doesn’t give you a minute to ask a full question before he assumes he knows what I’m asking and gives my his opinion. He says that’s his job “I’m a dr and I’m here to give you my opinion”
I understand that doctors are to give us opinions on why we are there to get help but there’s absolutely no reason why a doctor needs to tell anyone that we shouldn’t be on a certain medication. This guy knows nothing about my life and has no idea why my doctor prescribed certain medication for me to be on due to the death of my daughter. I’m a 55 year old woman with an HVAC certification for over 20 years. I have recently been diagnosed with lupus and had to quit my job and I was treated like a Mexican with no job or insurance. I wasn’t offered a breathing treatment when you could see that I was having a hard time breathing. I wasn’t offered any kind of help for the coughing etc…. I will contact my lawyer that is helping with my disability and see what I can do so this doesn’t happen to other people. It was unacceptable belittling discriminatory, and 100% uncalled for.
Got a call from the Texas medical board and that was about it.
