1 /5 Curve ball: If youre trying to call this location and talk to a real human being thats actually in the Garland VA hospital facility, good luck. It just wont happen. You have to jump through all kinds of hoops, call multiple places, set up appointments, all to get simple questions answered. So unless youre physically in that hospital, you wont talk to anybody at this facility unless they happen to call you.

5 /5 Laura K.: I had a great experience at the Garland VA Medical Center’s dermatology clinic last week. I had to wait quite a bit after checking in, but the dermatologist who saw me was top-notch - she was efficient, respectful, knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive to my concerns. All the staff members I interacted with were friendly and helpful. There were free snacks available at the main info desk on the first floor. Parking was fairly close and easy. Very satisfied with all aspects of my care here.

2 /5 Averie W.: My first two experiences were positive. My latest visit, on 11/29, was eye-opening, though. I still havent received the medication I requested (this makes two weeks today). Due to the extremely poor bedside manners of my provider, I will be transferring. In general, Im not pleased with the medical attention given. Please hire competent, professional and emotionally intelligent doctors and staff to provide high-quality service. We shouldn’t be receiving bottom of the barrel healthcare.

1 /5 SHELLEY Weiske: I am an Army veteran who went to the VA Medical Center in Garland because I have a large mass that needs to be evaluated. After waiting 4 weeks for this appointment with a primary care physician, I arrived on Monday, 12/9, early, only to be told that the clinic wouldnt be seeing patients until 10am because they had just moved to the 3rd floor. My appointment time was supposed to be at 8:40 a.m. but I had to wait hours. Then, upon finally getting into the clinic, the doctor I was supposed to see pawned me off on a "floater" doctor who NEVER actually examined me or looked at the mass. Instead, this floater doctor ordered blood work and wrote an order for an ultrasound (even though my mass is an exterior mass, the size of a golf ball). Today, 24 hours later, I have still NOT received any phone call about the ultrasound. I am an Army veteran who served my country with pride, and now I am being treated like this? The physician who was supposed to examine me never spoke to me about the reason for my visit. Now it is Sunday, December 15th, and I have still NOT received a call to schedule the ultrasound for the golf all size exterior mass that was never looked at on my 12/9 appointment. And 2 days ago, I noticed another area where a small growth was beginning. I called the Garland VA Medical Center to let them know I had not received any call about the ultrasound.....I was told it could take 26 business hours for that to happen. Well, its been 4 full business days since 12/9......still nothing. I will be going directly to the Dallas VA Medical Center from now on. Its now January 1, 2025. I have an ultrasound appointment on 1/3/25 at the Dallas VA Medical Center to assess the mass. While I have the utmost confidence in the staff at the Dallas VA hospital, I do NOT feel confident that Dr. Kahn at the Garland VA Medical Center will view the imaging results in a timely manner. He didnt value me enough on 12/9 to even examine me himself. I had the ultrasound 1/3/25. Dr. Kahn did follow up with me quickly, calling me and stating he would be ordering an MRI next.. Well, it is 1/13/25 and I have NOT been contacted yet about scheduling for the MRI. The mass is getting larger, and it seems the VA doesnt really care. I am continuing to update this post as a written record of events. Today, 1/14/25, I called the Patient Advocacy group at Dallas VA Medical Center, notifying them that I am still waiting to be contacted to schedule the MRI to evaluate my golfball size mass. After they got involved today, I did get contacted by the Dallas VA Radiology department to get the MRI scheduled. Well, they informed me that April 18th at 11:00 a.m. was the first available appointment. So, while I did get an appointment (for April), I am left with so much anxiety about having to wait so long. I discovered the mass in October 2024 and called right away. Now I may be seriously ill, and no one seems to care. This is a written record for documentation purposes. I served my country proudly. I wish I could be served proudly, but that is not to be.

1 /5 Christine Hovey: The VA really needs to replace their receptionists. They’re rude and have a bad attitude towards you cause they don’t want to listen to you if you have a question. They’ll yell at you to go to another person cause they’re too busy gossiping to a coworker.
