4 /5 Grish240: I was anticipating a really good experience at Goodwins, but it came up a bit short. The atmosphere is wonderful. The colors, tones, artwork, and lighting all combine to give you a warm feeling. It creates the impression you are going to have an elevated and enjoyable experience. But there’s a but… We did enjoy ourselves, but the food was hit and miss. The chicken cutlets, although cooked well with a slight crunch from the breading, lacked flavor. The mac and cheese suffered from the same lack of flavor and was too dense. Two bites of it and you feel full. To remedy the situation, it took me several minutes to flag down our waiter to request some salt. It took several more minutes for him to return with the white crystal flavor enhancer. None of this was particularly egregious. But when you’re seated in such a well-appointed dining room, the disappointment you feel when the food and service aren’t on par gets magnified.
