Corey Flud If I could give Athens UT Health zero stars, I would. My experience with this hospital was nothing short of a nightmare. My dad was in serious need of medical attention, and instead of getting the care he deserved, we were met with indifference and incompetence. It was clear they were not equipped or willing to handle his condition. I ended up having to rush him to Tyler, where he immediately received the life-saving surgery he needed. The difference in care was like night and day. I am grateful to the team in Tyler, but I am deeply disappointed and angered by the lack of urgency and care at Athens UT Health. I wouldn’t trust them with a scraped knee, let alone a serious medical emergency.

Riki Brownlee We had an extremely disappointing experience at UT Health Emergency Room. The check-in staff, mostly the young guy, was incredubly rude and exhibited behavior that made us feel we were bothering him by asking him one question. This made an already stressful situation worse. The doctor treating my loved one provided an incorrect emergency diagnoses, which caused unnecessary confusion and concern for close to 10 hours. There was a significant lack of communication throughout the visit which carried over to the next day, and to top it off, we were put into an unnecessary and expensive ambulance transfer to Tyler. The charge nurse showed no concern or sympathy when we called later that night attempting to get the correct information which was both frustrating and disheartening. The restrooms in the waiting room and in the ER were concerningly filthy. I expect better care and professionalism from a healthcare facility and cannot recommend this ER based on my experience. We will be filing a formal complaint with the patient advocate department.
