4 /5 KEITH MINTON: We took the tour. Very nice guide and informative but really wasn’t what I expected. We drove around in a bus for an hr or so and got out once and drove by a lot of cows and horse. But didn’t really get to see the main house or any of the animals up close. Not really for young kids we took a couple and it was kind of over their head. It would have been nice to see some animals up close or see the main house except for driving by it slowly. Also I envisioned the whole ranch as a more high end operation and it basically looked like any ranch out there. Worth going to once to learn about the history but I wouldn’t go back.

FYI, You can drive the area and read about the history and current operation for FREE It asked if I recommend buying tickets in advance, I recommend you dont buy tickets. But if you are down for paying for sitting on a bus when you can see the ranch for free, then yes, buy tickets in advance

5 /5 David Ray Jones: The King Ranch Visitor centers offers a quaint selection of King Ranch memorabilia. Numerous books regarding various King Ranch related history, cookbooks, hats, shirts, t-shirts, etc. There is also a 30+ minute video that relates some of the history of the King Ranch, its early beginnings, the expansion, and ongoing operations. Very interesting video. We also took the history tour that last for 90 minutes. It was absolutely great.

5 /5 Theresa E: Wonderful visitor center with an informative historical film, captioned hanging photos throughout, books, and King Ranch memorabilia. Convenient restrooms in a nearby building. Take the 90-minute King Ranch historical/informative bus tour that drives through the local grounds. See the Santa Gertrudis Cattle and the Quarter Horses as well as Longhorns and Caracara falcons. Learn about the rich history of the family that began, still resides on, and is still involved with the ranch. We were very pleased with Gabe as our guide; he was well informed and was a pleasure to meet.

3 /5 Alison Krueger: Knowledgeable guide but very slow pace. The guide would park and talk for a while. There is so much ranch and wild life to see, it made the experience drag on unnecessarily. Not a great tour for young kids.

Big Bend Ranch State Park - Terlingua

Kathleen M: Big Bend Ranch State Park, a rugged 300,000-acre expanse in west Texas, is a wild, beautiful escape. We camped at Upper Madera Campground with our three kids and our dog. The drive along FM 170—River Road—wowed us with canyon views, and Upper Madera offered solitude and stunning vistas. The site had a covered picnic table for shade, a fire pit that kept us cozy at night, and a clean pit toilet, but no water—pack plenty, especially with kids. The starry skies, thanks to its Dark Sky status, were unreal. Five stars for the untouched beauty and dusty, fire-lit family adventure it gave us.

Ashley Ridge: Everyone should visit this place and read everything. Its a beautiful and emotional memorial. The Paris Texas Eiffel Tower with the Cowboy Hat is awesome, too. There is no wait, and you do not have to pay to go in, but they do have a box where you can donate.

Bywaters Park - Paris

Brittany Austin: There were such pretty Christmas lights up here. The entire square area was done up with different characters also.

Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site - Paris

Alesia Hoyle: The house is listed on the Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance. Built in 1868, the house belonged to Sam Bell Maxey and his wife. Most of the furniture and other household artifacts are original to the house! Tours are available for $5. It is well worth the visit! This house was the first in Paris to have an indoor bathroom! It narrowly escaped the path of the last major fire that engulfed and destroyed downtown, making it a sort of period time capsule.

Jeffs Toy Box - Littlefield

Martin Howard: Sadly I didn’t get to meet Jeff. But I made sure my son laughed to fill the room with his spirit. There were an amazing amount of toys. My son and wife are very happy.

Littlefield Lands Duggan House - Littlefield

Rachel Maurer: A really nice small local county museum in one of the nicer older homes in Littlefield.Ebery summer, usually in mid-June or mud-July they host a wonderful wine tasting with wined from Canon City, Colorado. The woman N who brings the wine down, grew up in Littlefield and its her wonderful way of giving back to the community where she was raised. If you are in the are in the summer. Call and find out when the wine tasting is. You wont regret it. The volunteers who staff the museum have a wealth of knowledge about the farming & ranching area, so ask your questions.

Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden - Lampasas

Joshua Glendenning: A very nice place for a solar eclipse and some varied interesting art. There is a small monarch butterfly garden from an Eagle Scout project that helps with the stench near by. I think the smell is from the small stagnant water drainage it seems. The art sculptures are fun and varied. There was ton of parking during the eclipse so there should be plenty any other time.

Lampasas County Museum - Lampasas

Tiffany Willhite: Small little museum but has a ton of information in it. And lots of memorabilia. I would definitely recommend taking your kids.
