Eric c: 4th of July event was 2 trailers selling smoked meat for 100 dollars a brisket or 65 for a smoked pork butt. No music or anything else. 30 mile drive to see 8 people sadly sitting in the heat getting ate up by bugs, looking for something to do.
Karen Landis: We have enjoyed this quiet little park on several occasions. The lake is serene, with an easy hiking trail that goes around it. There’s a large picnic area at the lake. The cabins here are very nice, very clean, with a great balcony viewing the woods. We enjoy staying here. Note that you cannot park your car directly in front of the cabins, except for the ADA cabin that’s close to the parking area. We use a wagon to carry our gear to the cabin. The staff here is friendly and has always been very helpful.
Tyler Thibeaux: Up early this morning so I chose this place to drive by and take some photos. The oaks were incredible and the park was peaceful and gorgeous in the morning. Ill be back to check out the lake trail. 5 stars.
David Pearson: A nice all-around park. The main function of the park is the ball fields. And these seem adequate, but I did not focus on them. A small trail winds around a small pond with plenty of frogs and several geese and ducks. Signs do warn of gators, but did not see signs of any.
The park has several playgrounds for kids and at least one has new equipment. For being regularly used. The park was relatively calm and peaceful (as well as clean).
No got-to-see-this interests in the park, but if you are in the area and want to get out. This park is worth it.
Mark Neagle: We attend a family reunion here every spring, and we thoroughly enjoy⁷ it. Some stay in the barracks there, some stay in RVs, and some stay in the little house on the premises. All of the structures there are historical in some fashion, including the old Fort. Its a beautiful place . I recommend it for a day or a weekend.
There are water and electric hook ups, but no sewer or dump station for RVs.
Full bathrooms are available, and there is a kitchen in one of the barracks.
Adrian Gómez: A very friendly and nostalgic place to visit — perfect for a trip with friends or family.
The road trip from Houston to Waco is awesome, and you definitely need to go hungry — there’s a lot of classic BBQ waiting for you!
I think the shop is a bit expensive, but there are so many interesting things to see and buy.
Should I go again? Definitely yes.
Oh, and the sodas? The best!
Dannielle Folden: A must see! So very neat! There are multiple fossils at this dig in process. Our kids absolutely loved this place. The rangers are extra friendly. We will definitely be back every time we come through just to see what they find next!
travis mitchell: Wonderful small town zoo. Much of it seemed to be under construction, but Im sure it will be great in time. Small but pretty easily walkable with plenty of shade and indoor exhibits to cool off in. Nice picnic areas and nature trail. Very affordable and not overly crowded. Would love to come back when they complete the lemur area construction.
Diana Davenport: Must watch 45 minutes video, it was very informative. All displayed showed the history of Texas Rangers especially Bonnie and Clyde story. It was really nice understanding 200 years of how the texas Rangers role has evolved.$10.50 per adult
