2 /5 Kita Ross: Its not LGBTQIA+ friendly, but if you want to get deadnamed unabashedly even after saying repeatedly what you go by instead, then this is probably a fine establishment. I didnt make it to the front door. Made an appointment and had to tell them the name on my insurance, but made it clear I went by something else. The person answering the phone only used my legal name after being told that wasnt correct. I thought it was fine. Surely, theyd make a note about what I should be called, but even their automated confirmation line deadnamed me so Im 100% out. Just wanted to warn anyone else who might get blindsided like me.
This is a college town, so I guess Im just surprised more than anything that its all still so backwards. Other practices Ive been to didnt seem to have any issues addressing me correctly, even through their automated systems, so I really was taken aback by that specifically---more than someone treating me like I was inconvenient for simply bringing it up. And I do want to clarify that when asked if I had a gender preference for the doctor, I just said I wanted a doctor that would address me correctly and got laughed at a little, which isnt a reaction Im unfamiliar with from job hunting but I shouldve taken it as a red flag in this context, too. I didnt. Thats on me.
Two stars because I didnt even get to meet an actual doctor so I dont know what theyre like. If the front desk is that inconsiderate, though, I dont have high hopes.
