4 /5 Jenny Milczewski: Pretty nice beach. Amazing views of the USS Lexington and the Corpus Christi city skyline. There are a few gift shops, restaurants, and condos/hotels along the beach too. And theres a rental booth for kayaks and jet skis right on the beach near N Shoreline Blvd and Coastal Ave. Parking is available for $0.25 per 20 minutes in metered spots. There is also a parking lot between Palace Beachwear & Gifts and Splash Clothing Store on N Shoreline Blvd offering full day parking for $5 (I went on a Saturday, so Im not sure about parking during the week). I read somewhere that there was a ferris wheel here but I did not see it. Compared to Holiday Beach in Port A this beach (and Corpus Christi as a whole) seemed a little dirty run down: many boarded up and closed down shops and a few vagrants. Overall it was a very nice day.

5 /5 Heather Jackson: I went here the other day to explore the beach. I didnt really find any sea shells but the sand was super soft and water beautiful! It was too cold to really get in the water so we fed the seagulls, explored the shops and walked the beach. It was super nice and peaceful. When parking isnt available beach side, theres parking under the shopping store across the street for $5 a day. There also the Lexington ship to explore as well but it does cost a bit. Overall, the beach was nice!

4 /5 alexandria jude: Close to uss Lexington, volleyball net, shops, lots of garbage cans. I can tell the city has made efforts to clean the area. Side walk allows you to walk the area and close to beach as well as use public scooters, wheel chairs, and baby strollers ect. by the ocean.

Don Harrington Discovery Center - Amarillo

Noel Lee: Wow! What an awesome place! This is the hot spot for your junior naturalist/future scientist! We were passing through from Colorado and looking for somwhere to take the kids on our route. Our 4 year old twins had a blast! We enjoyed it as well! It was hard to pick a favorite because every part was great! I did love the tree house area with the scat and track displays and the birds of prey taxidermy! We didnt realize how fun it would be and wish we couldve stayed longer. We stayed about 3 hours. In that time we explored the whole center and even got to watch a movie in the planetarium. The gift shop was small, but very affordable! Check this place out ESPECIALLY if you have kids!

The Bug Ranch - Amarillo

Sandefur Laine (Vivian): Fun stop, easy to get to and free to enter. Good photo ops but the cars are all close together so watch out for spray painting and stay upwind of it. Ive gone to the original bug ranch for decades so I had to see where the bugs had been moved to, definitely doesnt have the same ambiance but its still fun.

Historic 6th Street Sign - Amarillo

Tracy Torbett: Stopped by on a Sunday morning 8/4/24. Easy to walk to the sign to get photos. The area can get crowded and busy but we visited at a good time. Lots of antique shops, boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants line the street. There’s still some Route 66 vibe. Worth the stop to see and walk the strip!

Helium Time Columns Monument - Amarillo

E. Larry Cantú: I spent my formative teenage years in Amarillo, Texas. I escaped as soon as I could. I don’t mean to suggest that Amarillo is a boring place, but it does have a monument to helium (an inert gas). I could understand a monument to nitrous oxide. THAT could have really been a gas. But a monument to HELIUM, really? I wonder whose idea that was. The good news about the helium exhibit is that there is never a line and, despite the rather small parking lot, parking at the helium times columns monument is never a concern. The only real downside to the helium times columns monument is that it is located in Amarillo, Texas. But look on the bright side, once you’re in Amarillo you have the best beaches, mountains, snow skiing and big city night life 500-600 miles in any direction!

S Darko: This spot is a concrete canvas for talented artists to show their skiĺls off. Really, if you enjoy top-notch graffiti or just love art in general, this is a place worth stopping in at.

Amarillo Railroad Museum, Inc. - Amarillo

Dave B.: The museum was very interesting in the fact that its displays are equipment that you dont see at other museums. The people there are very pleasant and knowledgeable about the trains they have there. They also have a large model train club layout in the building that is still under construction but does run.
