3 /5 Rosita Hasbun: Everything went great for my son until we were in the recovery room. They rushed us out of the recovery room basically because the nurse and nurse aid knew my son was still disoriented and crying in pain and they still disregarded anything I said. They kept repeating he is okay, you can give him Tylenol at home, here’s some ice chips. I didn’t have any other adult to drive home. My son is 8 years old and having to walk out of there after 3 procedures with him in distress was horrible. The recovery nurses did not try to help alleviate his pain. I am very disappointed at the quality of care he received in the recovery room at the day surgery center. The nurse did not assess him before we left, she removed the IV, gave me ice chips and reviewed discharge instructions. As mentioned before my son was still disoriented and asking who I was and she didn’t care to perform a physical assessment to determine if it was safe to discharge him. Patient should be given more time to recover from anesthesia and be offered TYLENOL at least. Another very important thing to mention is I never saw the doctor in the hospital, not before or after the procedure. He didn’t take the time to come and explain how the surgery went.
