gail bell: Really a nice park from first glance. Took my kiddos to hit the splash pad for a few hours. Which started off great! I noticed it was on the edge of the bad side of town but not one to normally judge like that. Ive been to plenty of parks in hoods all over tx that were amazing. This one however has some sanitary issues. I know people land on hard times. You shouldnt judge the homeless folks. Which there are definitely several around. On top of definitely having multiple meth heads walking around. Several of the homeless folks were actually pretty cool just looking for a spot to cool off. Which hell I get it tx heats brutal. But where I draw the line is when I have to watch a dude Washing his balls through his very dirty shorts. Who was obviously homeless in the splash pad water in front of kids and in the splash pad area. They have a really nice bathroom he could have gone to wash up in but nope right in front of the kids was his best choice in his opinion I guess. Minus the tweakers walking around with a few homeless folks which some of which I actually had very pleasant interactions with its actually a nice park just in a bad area. Definitely be sure to stop by the library next door tho! They have a fun little melody park to play at. Now all the negative are out lets talk perks! They Do have two separate play structures for different age groups of kiddos to play on which was awesome. As stated before the library next door had an awesome little sensory melody park. The park had very nice bathrooms. You can tell the city keeps up with maintenance quite well.

Flett Aggie “Snow Bunny”: The park is great, except the washroom is a disgusting mess. The rv area is just a paved parking lot. But it has electricity at every spot and water at every 2nd spot. There is also sanidump, potable water and garbage bins. I do not expect anything more bc its free (donation) for 3 nights. Anything past that is $20. You have to register with drivers license, plate, perment address and phone number.

Fort Richardson State Park & Historic Site
Francisco Leung: We camped here for 2 nights during Spring Break. Its not a huge state park, but the campsites are nice. They have water, electricity, picnic tables, and fire pit/grill. The restrooms have nice showers. You can book cabins which include bunk beds and AC/Heat. The view of the stars at night are really clear. Although, it was very cold and windy our first night. You have to buy their firewood. Theres only a small pond as you drive past the main entrance/check-in. The historic site is great when you first walk in. The park rangers at the check-in building and the historic site museum are very friendly. At the museum, you can read about the history and dress up in period outfits for photos and pose with the old (prop) weapons. The historic site is a huge field with several buildings to tour. Theres a nice playground and large picnic table pavilion.

Fort Richardson State Park - North Park Unit
Mahailey Oliver: We didn’t spend a whole lot of time at the north unit, but on our first day of camping at the south unit we came here for a swim knowing that it would be raining the rest of the weekend. There is also tent-camping at this unit. It was relatively empty when we visited—we had the lake to ourselves for our swim. We appreciated the foot-washing spigot nearby to clean the red clay and rocks off our feet. Very scenic.
