Flett Aggie “Snow Bunny”: The park is great, except the washroom is a disgusting mess. The rv area is just a paved parking lot. But it has electricity at every spot and water at every 2nd spot. There is also sanidump, potable water and garbage bins. I do not expect anything more bc its free (donation) for 3 nights. Anything past that is $20. You have to register with drivers license, plate, perment address and phone number.
Fort Richardson State Park & Historic Site - Jacksboro
Fort Richardson State Park & Historic Site
Francisco Leung: We camped here for 2 nights during Spring Break. Its not a huge state park, but the campsites are nice. They have water, electricity, picnic tables, and fire pit/grill. The restrooms have nice showers. You can book cabins which include bunk beds and AC/Heat. The view of the stars at night are really clear. Although, it was very cold and windy our first night. You have to buy their firewood. Theres only a small pond as you drive past the main entrance/check-in. The historic site is great when you first walk in. The park rangers at the check-in building and the historic site museum are very friendly. At the museum, you can read about the history and dress up in period outfits for photos and pose with the old (prop) weapons. The historic site is a huge field with several buildings to tour. Theres a nice playground and large picnic table pavilion.

Linda Pruitt: The total definition of a great pocket museum. Hard to believe in such a small town. Totally worth the trip.

Fort Richardson State Park - North Park Unit
Mahailey Oliver: We didn’t spend a whole lot of time at the north unit, but on our first day of camping at the south unit we came here for a swim knowing that it would be raining the rest of the weekend. There is also tent-camping at this unit. It was relatively empty when we visited—we had the lake to ourselves for our swim. We appreciated the foot-washing spigot nearby to clean the red clay and rocks off our feet. Very scenic.

Shawn Ebert: We went specifically for the boys to throw atlatals but the last behind the counter said they werent doing those as it was too hot.

Kevin S: Nice hike along the edge of the lake since the water level is down. It is dog friendly. There are restrooms and showers. There are hook ups for RVs including area for dumping. Each camp spot has a bbq pit and picnic table.
    Sandy Creek Park - Jasper
    Sandy Creek Park
Julia Vang: Gorgeous park with a dog friendly walking trail next to a running creek. Theres also an impressive basketball court with a shade structure and fans. The area around the park is also beautifully paved and well kept. Definitely a gem.
Limpia Creek Vista - Fort Davis
David Leet: A wonderful trail, and trails are in short supply in Texas, because most land is privately owned. As everyone else says here, take water, as there is none. A liter a day should get you by; water packs are available to buy. People can tent camp there, too, and will enjoy the night sky. It’s a five mile loop, but there are elevation changes, with the viewpoint the highest point.
