2 /5 Ashley Pogue: The staff was incredibly kind and the salon is beautiful, but I didn’t have a great experience and was unhappy with the service provided.
I arrived to the salon on 10/16 a little before they opened so I could be in and out as I planned to go the fair that afternoon and had a few errands to run for a trip that weekend (10/18). While I was waiting, a man (I assume the key holder) waved at me and let me in whenever he finished doing whatever set up inside. Being the first person there, I was quickly helped and given the list to choose what services I need. I can’t remember the exact pedicure (aloe something) with a gel polish. Before this was started, I expressed to the man I wanted a French tip and if my toenails weren’t long enough, acrylic was fine.
At the pedicure chair, I again told the woman helping the color and style I wanted as well as giving the okay to add acrylic if needed. She said this was okay and began prepping the water.
I also asked for a fresh set and Angela came over soon after saying she’d go head and get it taken care of for me while Kim did my toes. Usually, I prefer the hands and nails to be done separate, so I can relax and not be tugged in two different directions, but because I had plans, I agreed.
They were both friendly and kind so no issues with the customer service. However, things got shaky when Kim asked about my toes and the tip. I told her I just wanted a French tip and that the acrylic is fine if needed. Angela (I believe translating for her) told me my nails were long enough and I would not need the acrylic tips. Kim began polishing and when I looked down, saw she was struggling with the French tip. I told her it was okay and that she could just polish as normal which she did.
Angela continued on with my nails (acrylic and dip with French tip on three nails and a line design on the others.) the shape and length were fine until she began to dip and polish. I wanted a square shape and by the time she finished they were practically duck style. The lines on my fingers were significantly thicker than I wanted and she added glitter that I did not ask for nor that was on the reference photo she had open the entire time she designed the nails. She told me “the nails are too short for the design I requested” and “the glitter will make it pop”
I wanted to scream because I was so frustrated and disappointed, but I paid and left. Maybe 10 minutes passed and still frustrated, I returned to the salon, saying I wasn’t happy with the nails. The man from earlier who let me in was very apologetic and empathetic as was Angela. She fixed the shape for me as well as the nails with the French tip and while not what I wanted, I was satisfied that they were willing to fix it as best as they could… but my experience does not end here.
I went on about my day as normal and when I got home that night noticed the gel polish on my toes had a textured look. I touched it and realized it was beginning to peel. By this point I’m livid, but there’s nothing I can do as it’s 9 at night. I tell myself just be gentle so I don’t have to go back, but when I showered that night, the polish began coming off.
So, I return on 10/17 maybe 10:30 or 11 am and see tge man from the day before. I ask if he remembers me and he says he does, so I explain what’s happened with my toes. He’s again apologetic and empathic and the receptionist (I didn’t catch her name) removes the polish from the damaged toes and fixes it.
At some point a young woman greets me. I also didn’t get her name but assume she’s a manager as she was in the office when I left. She simply asked who had done my toes the day prior. I told her and that was that.
I’ve been following this salon on IG for months now and was soooo excited to come. It’s maybe 5 minutes away from me and is beautiful, but this experience was horrible and I’d rather make the drive out to my regular salon where I know what to expect when it comes to the quality of my nails. Maybe I’ll try them again but it won’t be anytime soon.
