4 /5 Fiona L: ONeals on the Water is a relaxed, dive spot with one major highlight--its right by the bay, and the outdoor seating offers a lovely view and breeze. We were greeted warmly at the entrance and shown to our table, which started things off on a good note. Our server, while not rude, didnt seem particularly enthusiastic or friendly--but it didnt impact the service too much.
We started with the Garlic Parmesan Oysters. While Im personally not an oyster fan, my husband and his friend really enjoyed them. For mains, we ordered the Snow Crab Cluster, the Shrimp Platter, and the Shrimp & Catfish Combo. All of the seafood was fresh and flavorful. Id recommend getting the shrimp fried--the grilled version was a bit too salty for my taste, though my husband liked them just fine.
Each entree came with two sides and hushpuppies, which I was excited about--until I realized they only give you two, and they were a bit hard, overly salty, and not as satisfying as Id hoped. Thankfully, I chose Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes with Gravy as my sides--both were delicious! The okra was crispy and generously portioned, and the mashed potatoes were definitely the star: creamy, flavorful, and total comfort food.
I also love that they offer daily specials and events, so if youre planning a visit, definitely check out their calendar. Overall, its a great spot to kick back with friends, enjoy some fresh seafood, and soak in the bayfront atmosphere.
