3 /5 Anne Lopez: Weve lived in the Bastrop area over 5 years and only visited here once before for the live music. We decided to stop in for dinner this time. The vibe and location of this place automatically sets it up for success. At least, you would think. It began with men carrying large equipment through the dining room out to the patio for the live music. The equipment was carried over the head of more than one patron, which could have been catastrophic if even one part had fallen or slipped. It was also just unprofessional.
We tried several mixed drinks, several appetizers, and several entrees. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, and the sausage platter was delicious. Thats about all that was good. The fried pickles were way more fry than pickle, the asparagus was way over cooked, the mashed potatoes looked and tasted like they were from a box, and one of the mixed drinks was so bad, we sent it back and asked for bottled beer. Our waitress was supporting both inside and outside, and even though the dining room was less than half full, we waited extended periods of time each time we needed something; culminating in about a 15 min wait for our check before we finally got up and asked if someone could find our server so we could leave. I was really hoping to like this place; were always looking for a place to get a good drink and steak, but I guess well have to keep looking.
