5 /5 Durell Twitty: Nice atmosphere and the flavor of the catfish was good. However when the food arrived I asked where my other side was. He, the waiter, said it was coming. Finally we realized that he accidentally placed our plates incorrectly, but we had been talking and eating the food already. Yet he still suggested we just switch our fish and sides. I simply asked for my other side to come out when it was ready. No one should ever be asked to switch meals after being eaten from. Garlic fries tasted like diced garlic from the jar mixed with fries and dried parsley. Fish coating and flavor was on point. Okra was fried nicely and no slime. The peach beer was pleasing light and crisp.
After eating 1.5 of the fish filets that were good, I found a long dark and straight strand of hair fried into the fish. I then told our waiter that all the food was delicious, but theres a straight dark hair fried into the fish. He took my whole meal and said it would be taken care of. Didnt apologize for the hair, didnt have the manager or owner come by to apologize or anything. Also most of my okra and garlic fries had not been eaten and I still had 1.5 fish left before he took my meal. Needless to say im still hungry and didnt get to have my sides to go. I got the bill for the sides and other items I received. Im choosing not to return here because I felt like the waiter and management didnt feel strongly enough about their craft to personally apologize for the hair in my food or lack of food etiquette. Also being that I was still charged for the sides I was not able to take it home in a to go box. As one who has worked in food service from fast food up to high scale restaurants, I take it seriously how management deals with issues like this. You shouldnt ever suggest your customers switch food items on each others plate, especially after they had begun to eat from them.
In the end I will repeat that the fish was good and okra was pleasing. The garlic fries were sub par, but the peach beer was a good choice for a warm Texas night. But the lack of food etiquette and hair fried into the fish was distasteful and leaves me choosing to respectfully not visit again.
Soo. I have visited twice since my first experience at 107. Both occasions have been absolutelwonderful. Awesome curbside service with fresh fish. Also today, my third visit, I got the fish and chips to go. As I initially stated, the food looks great and taste delicious. Atmosphere is always nice. My first visit was unfortunate due to the waiter. So I wholeheartedly recommend anyone to try this nice hometown restaurant out. Im a foodie and a big eater. Both of my last two visits had me full and my taste buds dancing. Thanks 107 for being a great place to get some tasty fish n chips.
