4 /5 Kaela Jackson: We visited the Waco Mammoth site with a homeschool group. It was a good experience overall. The park ranger who led our tour was very knowledgeable and made the historical and scientific background really engaging for the kids and adults alike.
The dig site itself is interesting, but just know that it’s all contained in one large room. We expected it to be a bit more expansive, so that part was a little underwhelming. However, seeing the fossils in person was still fascinating—especially for those who love paleontology or natural history.
We didn’t explore the walking trails since it was pretty hot that day, but it looked like there are some nice paths to check out in cooler weather. The gift shop has some fun and educational items. Overall, its definitely worth visiting at least once if youre in the area.
