06-2025 Stephen F. Austin Park in Hight rate 6 location for tourist in Crockett, TX, USAMedical Center Park - Amarillo Samantha Timson-Boyer: We used to really enjoy this park but now.. its absolutely filthy. Disgusting. And I saw plenty of areas that need fixing/upgrading. A large random hole any child could get thier foot trapped in and break an ankle. Pretty disappointed in the state of this park, otherwise it would be perfect. Its always really nasty underneath the picnic tables too.
Jack Sisemore RV Museum and Storage - Amarillo Douglas A. Johnson: The museum opened March 20, 2025. It is an excellent museum, with vintage Airstream, Winnebago, and other RVs. There are also vintage neon signs, cars, motorcycles, models, and retro camping gear. This collection is extensive, informative, and unusual. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Synchronicity - Amarillo Braden Swope: Incredible, inspired, inspiring. If you’re looking for something unique and bizarre in its own endearing way, this art installation will leave you feeling like you’ve just walked into a dream — maybe a nightmare. An astounding auditory and visual experience, a horror movie in real life. Trent has put something really special together. Support it!!
Tex Randall Statue - Canyon jana hughey: This is a neat roadside attraction to spend a few minutes at. Per Wikipedia: The statue was constructed in 1959 by local shop teacher Harry Wheeler to advertise for a western wear store directly next to it. It originally featured a bandanna, a western-style shirt and real denim jeans.[1] When Highway 60 was rerouted through an underpass, traffic to the store declined and it closed. The statue gradually fell into disrepair as high winds shredded the jeans, a truck crashed into the left boot, and the cigarette was shot from his hand.[2] In 1987, a campaign began to repair the statue, which resulted in a different appearance: the remains of the cigarette were replaced with a spur and new paint gave him different clothing and a moustache. Without further maintenance, the statue again fell into disrepair until 2013, when the Texas Department of Transportation constructed a park underneath and around the statue. A new campaign funded the restoration of the statue to more closely resemble its original appearance.[2] The restoration was completed in 2016.[3]
Canyon Aqua Park - Canyon Carolina Logistix: Nice Municipal type swimming pool. No complaints there. It’s disconcerting that Texans pay as much as they do in taxes. Many cities elsewhere having a pool like this charge a nominal fee for residents and many of these have even more amenities.
Caprock Canyons State Park & Trailway - Quitaque Samuel Bruce: Quiet park offering easy or more challenging trails. Still a lot of flowers and blooms in late May, early June. These I found on the Lower North Prong. I just love the solitude the park offers. On the lower north I didnt run into a single hiker, just a lone bull who scurried away on the trail. Great escape even on the weekends. I can imagine during the week, its even quieter. I camped in upper North prong and some campers found some pretty nice spots farther away from each other incase of rowdy younger folks who dont respect camp hours.
Palo Duro Riding Stables - Canyon Karen H: We had the pleasure of riding horses with Palo Duro Riding Stables today and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to everyone!! The owners Jessie and Kristen did a fantastic job from start to finish. You can see their passion for the horses, the canyon and the riders getting an unforgettable experience.
Once at the stables, we were checked in quickly. Jessie gave us background on his family and the horses. We were each fitted with horses and given background on how they were named- fun stories to hear! They really take time to pair each rider with an appropriate horse. They took care to make sure the kiddos with us felt comfortable and confident on their horses before we began.
Once on the trail, both Jessie and Kristen (and their niece Raine) gave us so much knowledge on the canyon as well as their family history of the land and the generations that have owned it. Their beautiful dogs came along for the first part of the trail. The duo pointed out wildlife all along the way, as well as plant life. Once to the bottom, they took beautiful pictures of our group and made sure we got the perfect photo moments!
All along the way, they took care to make sure our whole group felt comfortable on the horses and enjoyed our experience. This trip far exceeded our expectations and we wont hesitate to tell everyone we know to visit Palo Duro Riding Stables!! We hope to be back again soon!! Shout out to their hard working kiddos Cody-Jo and Cash who work the stables and care for the horses. Such a sweet family and a first class operation!!!
Conner Park - Canyon Ashleigh Daniels: We love it here! The kids always have so much fun and theres plenty of shade as well.
Palo Duro Creek Ranch - Canyon Bob Brown: Absolutely incredible experience!
We went on the 3-hour Jeep tour of Palo Duro Canyon today and it was AMAZING! This is hands down the best way to truly experience the canyon. You’ll see areas and viewpoints that you simply can’t access any other way. The ride was fun and adventurous—exactly what youd want in a place like this—and the guide was knowledgeable and fun. If youre visiting the canyon, don’t miss this—book it online right now. We loved every minute of it!
