06-2025 Synchronicity in Hight rate 19 location for tourist in Amarillo, TX, USACaprock Canyons State Park & Trailway - Quitaque Samuel Bruce: Quiet park offering easy or more challenging trails. Still a lot of flowers and blooms in late May, early June. These I found on the Lower North Prong. I just love the solitude the park offers. On the lower north I didnt run into a single hiker, just a lone bull who scurried away on the trail. Great escape even on the weekends. I can imagine during the week, its even quieter. I camped in upper North prong and some campers found some pretty nice spots farther away from each other incase of rowdy younger folks who dont respect camp hours.
Palo Duro Riding Stables - Canyon Karen H: We had the pleasure of riding horses with Palo Duro Riding Stables today and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to everyone!! The owners Jessie and Kristen did a fantastic job from start to finish. You can see their passion for the horses, the canyon and the riders getting an unforgettable experience.
Once at the stables, we were checked in quickly. Jessie gave us background on his family and the horses. We were each fitted with horses and given background on how they were named- fun stories to hear! They really take time to pair each rider with an appropriate horse. They took care to make sure the kiddos with us felt comfortable and confident on their horses before we began.
Once on the trail, both Jessie and Kristen (and their niece Raine) gave us so much knowledge on the canyon as well as their family history of the land and the generations that have owned it. Their beautiful dogs came along for the first part of the trail. The duo pointed out wildlife all along the way, as well as plant life. Once to the bottom, they took beautiful pictures of our group and made sure we got the perfect photo moments!
All along the way, they took care to make sure our whole group felt comfortable on the horses and enjoyed our experience. This trip far exceeded our expectations and we wont hesitate to tell everyone we know to visit Palo Duro Riding Stables!! We hope to be back again soon!! Shout out to their hard working kiddos Cody-Jo and Cash who work the stables and care for the horses. Such a sweet family and a first class operation!!!
Conner Park - Canyon Ashleigh Daniels: We love it here! The kids always have so much fun and theres plenty of shade as well.
Palo Duro Creek Ranch - Canyon Bob Brown: Absolutely incredible experience!
We went on the 3-hour Jeep tour of Palo Duro Canyon today and it was AMAZING! This is hands down the best way to truly experience the canyon. You’ll see areas and viewpoints that you simply can’t access any other way. The ride was fun and adventurous—exactly what youd want in a place like this—and the guide was knowledgeable and fun. If youre visiting the canyon, don’t miss this—book it online right now. We loved every minute of it!
Southeast Canyon Park - Amber Lang: I havent ever seen a park this clean. Pond has some good fish and a little dock also. There is all kinds of birds also. Might I add allot of tree cover and benches and different playground areas as well. There is even a do park in the back. A big gazebo for parties and lighting at nights. And a lake in the far back right as well that stretches around the back of the park. The bathrooms are even pretty clean!
Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge Admin Building and Visitor Contact Station - Canyon JoyG Anderson: So glad we visited. Only $2 per car! It was a beautiful sunny day in early March. Auto tour was nice, liked the signs along the way talking about the area. We enjoyed the Observation Deck, the Cottonwood Canyon Birding trail, and the Observation Deck/Platform. The vault toilet by the picnic area was open. It was cold enough that the hornets in the bathroom were dopey. I could see how they could be a problem as mentioned in other reviews. *NOTE-The one-way road spikes at the exit are damaged so we backed up and drove out the entrance.
Bar Z Winery - Canyon Susanne Nemmer: Loved this stop on our vacation to Palo Dura Canyon. Just a few miles away. Friendly, great view, and a glass of "Aerial on the patio listening the Lithium Radio (IYKYK). We ordered a flight and let me just say....the pore was generous.
Caldwell Zoo - Tyler Heather Watson LLC: We had the best day at this zoo! They’ve recently done a huge expansion, and everything looks incredible—so much space and thoughtful details everywhere. The animals all seem really well cared for, and the beautiful landscaping makes it such a peaceful place to explore. There are plenty of shady spots to sit and relax, plus easy access to snacks and drinks along the way. The interactive exhibits were a fun touch, and the staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Such a nice, easy place to spend the day!
Tyler State Park - Tyler Aqua: A beautiful park, well laid out and kept. The small lake does not allow motor boats. Its a serene spot for paddleboarding, canoes, kayaking, and peddle boats, all of which can be rented on site. A variety of options for overnight visitors include tent camping, shelters with power, shelters with A/C, and RV spots, including pull through spaces with lake views. I had a wonderful weekend here and plan to return for the tranquility, trails, and natural beauty.
