PS if you don’t want to climb the stairs to the mountain top, use the sloped path that’s a little further than the stairs (keep going straight to spot it)

The short hike up—just over 100 stone steps—was manageable and led to breathtaking views of Lake Austin and the surrounding hill country. At the top, the panoramic scenery was well worth the effort. Its a peaceful spot, perfect for a quick nature fix without leaving the city. If youre in Austin, its definitely worth the visit.

5 /5 Ayush Gupta: Great place to do hiking, or just drive up and enjoy the scenic view. The Colorado river is beautiful! We went in the morning in late May, it was still pretty hot though.

5 /5 Gary Owen: Enjoy amazing views high above Lake Austin along the Colorado River. Enjoy amazing panoramic views of Austin City area as well as numerous Vistas around the surrounding community. Can enter and exit at lower or upper trail. Lower area is accessible by about 200 steps. Ample parking along road.

5 /5 Brian: Nice quick hike with good views of the Colorado river and downtown Austin. Be sure to do the full loop, starting at one end of the parking lot and ending at the other. There’s a good amount of free parking spaces.

Emily Goodin: Considering the current south shore plant/tree overgrowth (April 2024) I think THIS is the best place to stand when waiting for the bats to come out from under the bridge. Yes the bats begin to emerge on the south side first, but you dont need to see the *first* bats to see an impressive display. As it turns out, we didnt see a large group of bats this evening (it rained and was generally too cool), but we did see (and hear) some bats, and the trip to the bridge was worthwhile. We waited from 30 minutes before until about 50 minutes after sunset, then left. Austin has a lovely skyline! We walked here from our hotel near the convention center, along the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail. It was a very pleasant walk with lots of tree cover.

Texas Governors Mansion - Austin

Jeff Helton: Came for a "governors tailgate party" before a UT game. Security is very thorough. Although the party was outside, we were able to tour most of the mansion. Its very well preserved (although there was a big fire abt 20 yrs ago). It was unfortunately too hot to stay long, but maybe Ill get invited back someday.

Travis Jordan: Absolutely phenomenal. Scott and Jen present a phantasmagorical tale of history and unhistory over an hour, describing dozens of artifacts they’ve collected over the years. A must see for fans of history and the Weird alike.

Walking Tours of Austin - Austin

Jennie Read: Tyler was great, had a lovely morning walk learning all about Austin. Our group was only 6 so nice size for the day. We went to Jo’s for breakfast before meeting which would be recommended also.

Brush Square (O. Henry Museum) - Austin

Miles E: The Brush Square Museums are one of the hidden treasures of the Austin downtown area. Very affordable day activity. Park at the convention Center parking garage for $10 and enjoy the museums for free. Theres a small gift area in the OHenry house, and a playable horizontal baby grand. Check out the art from the streets exhibit, a penny pressing machine, and find a specialized reading room in the Susanna Dickinson house.

Peter Pan Mini-Golf - Austin

Amber Lee: While the surrounding area might not feel too much like Neverland, Peter Pain Mini Golf does have a fun, magical quality to it. The course is an Austin classic for a reason. With two different 18 hole course and a BYOB policy, this putt putt outing sets itself up well for a good time. Getting your clubs and balls are easy and the prices aren’t too bad. Solid start. What is too bad though is the traffic backup on the course. The party sizes allowed here are huge (we saw a party of 8). You could say we’re partially to blame for coming on a Friday night, but man did it take long to get through portions of the course. The course itself is cute with little attractions and sculptures on every hole. Some of the holes were quite challenging which added a layer of fun to it and there being a whole second course adds a lot to the replay value. The whole experience was enjoyable but we would HIGHLY recommend coming at a time where there are less people. Either way you will have fun and it’s a great way to begin a night out in the downtown area.

Pearl Brown: It was a nice stop but it’s surroundings screamed ghetto! It was literally a THC shop… would not recommend for kids and families. Because we stopped I still took pictures with the kids to keep them distracted. But I would not take them back.

Pease District Park - Austin

Rachel Maust: 10/10 recommend for all ages! We were visiting the area from out of town and could not have been more impressed. The park had so much to offer... multiple play areas for all ages, grass to run, trails to hike, and great picnic areas. Dont miss out on this park, especially if you have small children. We cannot wait to visit again!
