Longhorn Cavern State Park - Burnet (TX)

5 /5 Charlene Perez: Really enjoyed our visit to Longhorn State Cavern! The cavern is beautiful and our tour guide, Jim, was phenomenal! He kept everyone engaged and was extremely knowledgable! You can visit without booking a tour, but I highly recommend doing the tour. There are a few trails and all were beautifully maintained, marked and easy to follow. The visitor center was also phenomenal and offered a variety of gifts for purchase! They also had pizza, pretzels and other snacks available. There is also an area behind the visitor center with picnic tables that is perfect to do some bird watching! We were able to see cardinals!

5 /5 Martin Vires: I can’t believe the amazing time my wife and I had today at this true hidden Texas gem. We took the early black light tour and it was an amazing adventure to say the least. Jim our tour guy aka “Joe” kept us entertained throughout the cavern. We definitely saw so many things you wouldn’t normally view during the regular tour and of course we got to see some bats as well. There were stops for history, photos, jokes, and many laughs. Very family friendly and not too strenuous of a hike through the cavern. The hospitality and friendly atmosphere did not stop on the tour. The from staff were just as helpful and courteous. What an amazing group of ladies that work the counters up front and assist visitors. I would definitely recommend getting some mineral dirt and a geode to crack and of course a shirt because it’s good to remember where you’ve been and it helps support the park system. Amazing park and amazing staff!

5 /5 Summer Sherf: I loved experiencing Longhorn State Park! It is CCC built and you can tell. Every building and structure is in such good condition. Bathrooms are extremely clean and the gift shop and ticketing area is very, very clean and organized. We had an early morning tour which was being led by Melissa. Now, I have to take a moment and speak about Melissa as she was absolutely amazing. Our group was her first group that she was primary lead guide. She had us captivated, curious, and enchanted. . . . the WHOLE hour and a half! Our group was on the bigger side and everyone was engaged in the story. Longhorn Cavern was gorgeous, the guides are fantastic story tellers, the facilities were top tier. If you have a moment to stop by and learn some interesting facts about Texas history and the CCC, definitely go to this gem of a spot! Oh and ask when Melissa gives her tours.... you will NOT be disappointed!

5 /5 Jeremy Young: Was scheduled for the 10am tour. Got there at 10:01 so we had to go on the 10:15am tour. So get there at least 10 minutes before your tour time. The tour was really cool. Its a there-and-back tour that takes about an hour and a half. Wife and I had a 4yo and a 2yo. Both enjoyed it as did we. The little one fell asleep about half way through. It was mostly dry and paved, but a few slick spots and a few low spots that you had to crouch for. Overall it felt safe and not claustrophobic at all. We also had the girls "mine" for gems in the visitors center and they loved that. Great guide (Gary) was very informative and his jokes rocked. Will probably come back with my parents.

5 /5 Heather Austin: We did not go into the caverns this time around, but I have been in them and they are phenomenal. I remember enjoying the guided tour and appreciated their knowledge. We bought BBQ from a town nearby and ate it at one of the picnic tables. Just sitting there and enjoying the quiet was enjoyable. The grounds had plenty of beauty to take pictures of.
