River Road Park - Boerne james chavez: Nice park along the river. Needs a small play area for kids south of the bridge. Loved the ducks, turtles, and occasional surprise like the huge catapillar in photos. 3 snakes in between rocks and next to sidewalk did scare the ladies. They were jyst on the north side of the bridge and possibly water moccasins. I can see this place being magical with lights all over during the holidays.
Boerne City Lake Park - Boerne Maurice Rodarte: Great lake. Water is cold and fresh most of the year and is cleaner than some of the bigger lakes like canyon and Travis. Because of the size to motorized boats are allowed so its great for kayaking, paddle boards and swimming recreationally.. Ill be going back to fish as I saw bait fish. Great place.
Kinderpark - Jenny Borter: Update: They just installed a bathroom facility onsite and finished a few other updates.
A beautiful and shaded playground on a quiet neighborhood street. There is a small parking area next to the fully fenced playground. I always love the baby swings attached to the parent swing so you can swing your baby while sitting and looking into their eyes. Too cute and two of them here. Both younger and older kids will be fully entertained with plenty of things to do. I highly recommend this special playground.
Cave Without A Name - Boerne Venkatapraveen Thiruveedhi: We had an amazing experience visiting this place! From the moment we arrived, everything felt well-organized and welcoming. "The Cave Without a Name" truly lived up to its mysterious and intriguing titleāit was unlike any other cave tour weve experienced. The natural formations inside were stunning, and the guided tour was informative without being overwhelming.
What made the visit even more special was how much our child enjoyed it. The cave was both educational and entertaining, making it a great destination for families. The cool temperature inside provided a nice break from the heat, and the lighting beautifully highlighted the caveās unique features.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable outing. Whether youre a nature enthusiast, looking for a family-friendly activity, or simply curious about underground wonders, I highly recommend this place!
Boerne City Park - Boerne S R: Very cute and clean park. 10$ per person to play tennis on their courts but you can also do a yearly pass for 160-180$. Lots of trails and deer running around. Iāve caught some gorgeous sunsets here!
Kreutzberg Canyon Natural Area - Boerne Rooster: Good little place. The water is very low this time of year and it runs very slow. But its very quiet and if you want to get away its great. There are no showers or restroom, but its free to get in and pretty easy to get to the water. There are picnic tables to eat if you like. Not many shade spots so bring sunblock. We had a few bits but no catches and we saw lots of fish swimming around.
The Museum of Western Art - Kerrville Thomas Corrao: The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas is an incredible gem that exceeded all expectations. We visited on a rainy day, arriving through a clearing storm, and even that couldnāt dampen the experience. Though we entered from the back lot by mistake, we quickly found our way to the entrance and were welcomed by stunning outdoor sculptures and a stone wall lined with cowbells. It set the tone perfectly for what was to come.
Inside, we were warmly greeted by two friendly and knowledgeable curators who took time to explain the museums history. We learned that the land was generously donated by a local resident so the museum could be built in Texas instead of California, which led to an outpouring of support from collectors all across the country. Once word spread, people donated incredible artwork and western artifacts, creating a collection that is as rich in history as it is in beauty.
The museum is incredibly well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. The architecture alone is impressive, but itās the content that really shines. From oil paintings to bronze sculptures, the halls are filled with scenes of frontier life, cowboys, Native Americans, ranchers, and breathtaking Western landscapes. Some works are even for sale, and the staff mentioned that they had just completed their Spring Round-Up, which is a showcase and sale event for Western artists.
In addition to the art, the museum houses a Western research library, making it a valuable resource for historians, students, and anyone interested in the culture and legacy of the American West.
It was our first Western art museum on this leg of our RV journey, and it left a lasting impression. It offers a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere for anyone who appreciates art, history, or the American frontier.
Highly recommended if you are visiting Kerrville or passing through the Texas Hill Country. We plan to return if weāre ever back in the area. Do not miss it.
Flat Rock Park - Kerrville Oui Cest Moi ValE: Wondrous place to take photos! Beautiful location to walk along the river, a fabulous view! Parking can be found anywhere, dirt paths to park by the water in deep shade from phenomenally large trees! Ive watched families bring a portable barbecue and fix lunch...
Trees roots can be seen growing into the river, theres even a rope being and a tire swing hung on 1 of the trees! There are 2-3 cement picnic tables on the slope, a separate area for a childrens playground with slide and swings. Fur-baby dogs are welcome here, on leash, of course!
Louise Hays Park - Kerrville Jeni Ware: Im not a fan of cement paths - I much prefer rugged hiking, but this park was a really nice change of pace! Clean, quiet, pretty views, los of deer.
The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Gardens - Kerrville William Veazey: First time visit. Very spiritual place. Prayer rocks everywhere. The sculptures were amazing. Wonderful music playing in the background. Landscaping was nice and entire park was clean and beautiful.
