James K.: Highly recommend! I just recently had to replace the transmission on a 2018 Honda Accord touring edition. The dealership originally quoted me more than $8800.00! I immediately put calls out to transmission shops in Texarkana and Ed not only responded within 15 minutes but he got the work done for half the price I was originally quoted! Furthermore, he was able to complete the work in less than one week and he even went to the dealership to pick up my car for me free of charge! There was only one downside, and that was not Eds fault whatsoever in that, when using a credit card, he had to charge a surcharge (credit card company shenanigans and is normal when it comes to paying mechanic shops these days) but even then, he only recouped what he himself was charged. My wife and I were EXTREMELY pleased with the whole experience and, although we dont live in Texarkana, they will still be our transmission shop going forward. Im not sure where some of these other reviews took their cars but their description doesnt even come CLOSE to what we experienced (I rather suspect they are the type of customer you hear about in those "customer states ______" YouTube videos) and, as someone who always prefers to turn the wrench himself whenever practical, I can tell you Ed earned not only our repeat business, but our deepest gratitude and highest respect and I would not hesitate to tell anyone to gives Cates a call and trust Eds 40+ years of experience to fix your car correctly, and for a fair price. Again, HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cates Transmission!

Vladimer Purtskhvanidze: Never never never , they quoted me 2hr of labor , 150/h and they got 2 tires for ford truck which supposed to be 460$ . They came took tires from truck . And it took them 4.5 hours to bring me tires. Work they do on truck was maximum 1hr . They gave me total bill 1600$ which is more than double . Skinny guy was rude to my driver too . Do not even think to deal with them . I asked them to give me receipt for tires they wrote up some funny invoice . They hide keys from us and forced us to make 1400$ , they brought me 2 tires . And labor took 1hr , I wish I can give 0

Harper Adams: Image #1(dirty)- after I received my block from the machine shop Image #2(clean)- what I did myself with no machining experience afterwards If youre looking for a machine shop for dirt track racing, where you dont care about a little smoke from your engine and are not too concerned about your engine not exceeding 50,000 miles, then this is your machine shop. But if youre looking for a machine shop for your every day pride and joy, look elsewhere. I paid 450 overall, billed for vat, brush, magnaflux, bore, hone, and deck. After I picked up my block I discovered that my cylinders still had pitted spots inside them. I pulled out some measurement tools and then found that my cylinders, which were egg shaped, had not been bored 20 over(what i paid for). Each cylinder ranged from between 3.55 (standard) and 3.562, but none of which were 3.57, nor were they identical, or symmetrical. Then I discovered that under all the black and chrome paint on my block(which i did not want or ask for) lay nothing but thick layers of rust. All this money to be practically back where I began. Very disappointing and frustrating. Besides that, honestly, everybody was very nice and the machinist who personally "bored and honed" my block held his composure very well whenever I became belligerent with him. Nice people, yes. Not so good machinist.
