2 /5 bee gonz: Went to deliver a baby on Nov 4th, 2024. 1st the staff didn’t introduce themselves I didn’t know my first nurses name until about two hours in, left the white board completely blank. 2nd the charge nurse (she said she was the charge I can’t be sure) inserted an IV without gloves, didn’t perform any hand hygiene before either. My first nurse Sam was incredibly aggressive and kept trying to convince me to get the epidural from the moment I got comfortable in the room, she hadn’t even started the Pitocin yet and kept saying you want the epidural, let me get you the epidural I was only 2cm dilated and not progressing an hour in. She left my bed in a high position and when I asked her to help me lower it so I could go pee she just looked at me and smiled so I had to basically jump out of bed. When I asked for a new nurse they told me no, and then Sam came and confronted me about it. She said I don’t know what I did to you but I’m the nicest nurse here. Then she left the room took me off the Pitocin and didn’t come back for 3 hours because I wouldn’t stay still and the baby monitor kept moving so basically me trying to get comfortable was an inconvenience I kept moving because my first IV was causing me pain of 6 even if I had my arm completely still I was finally able to get comfortable after they changed it but then I had to worry about infection because of the other nurses lack of safety protocol. Then after an hour of being able to stay in one position because I was no longer in pain at the IV site, sam came in and said I’ll start you back on Pitocin since you stayed still for awhile. Weird I signed a waiver for intermittent fetal monitoring not continuous. I also wanted the option of getting up to pee while on Pitocin and she kept telling me no due to hospital protocol (isn’t wearing gloves during IV insertion part of protocol, guess they pick and choose what rules they’re going to follow), but I just needed to sign a waiver for intermittent fetal monitoring. The first IV that the nurse put in became infiltrated but they tried to tell me it wasn’t but it was. The nurse who came in for day shift (Normita) was a godsend I’d give DHR one star if it weren’t for her.
