3 /5 Stefanie B: Saw Beautifica from James Hood’s Mesmerica collection. It was cool in so many ways, but needs improvement. It’s only about 50-55 minutes long. I started to enjoy the change of beat towards the end and wish he would have included more fast tempo mixes and kept some images going longer. I think the show should have been a 90 minute. Movie tickets cost way less than this and spend way more on their production. Also, since I had never been here before, I assumed there was ample smart seating and that I would be able to enjoy whatever spot I sat in. I went by myself, so I got lucky to grab one seat on the end only 3 rows up from the floor. However, I almost got stuck sitting halfway covered at the very top (because I didn’t stand in line even though I got there early). The staff actually were adding uncomfortable portable chairs at the top as if the show time was overbooked. That’s crazy. This almost ruined the experience for me.
Anyway, the room is small, so get there early especially if you are general admission. $36.57 ticket is way too high, and to think most people brought their families. I think a fair price should’ve been under $22, and a longer presentation with a wider variety of music mixed in, both slow and energetic. But, overall I’m glad I went for the planetarium experience.
