1 /5 Ari Hester: Went in to get a crown for one of my molars (tooth #14) around August 2024, and when it was time to have it placed, I was told by Dr. Saxena that the new crown was too big-- but they placed it in anyway. Over the next couple weeks, I had to go back in to get the tooth shaved down on two separate occasions just so I could get a decent bite, since apparently the crown was too high. Anyway, I thought thatd be the end of that... but now 8 months later, today on March 31 at 9am, Im getting a root canal for the same tooth at a different dentistry.
In the months since my crown was placed, Ive had two tooth infections stemming from that crown and have had to be on Amox Clav antibiotics both times. My nee dentist confirmed that the crown was indeed too high and too big... but also that it was not sealed all the way between the top of the crown and the gums, so there was a gap for bacteria to get into.
So not only do I have to find a way to pay for that root canal today, but also a new crown as well, to replace the bad one I got here at Austin Advanced Dentistry. Ive since moved apartments since that crown appointment and have found another dentistry nearby that I trust more than this one. So even though Im upset that I have to pay for a new crown, Id rather get the crown replaced there than at Austin Advanced Dentistry again.
I have other issues with AAD other than the crown, including receiving a bill TWICE in the mail for a bill I already settled; Ive had to call them each time just to get them to stop sending me that bill.
Also this location seems to have 2 phone numbers which is confusing: the 512-886-6734 number on their website and the 512-331-6677 on their Google listing. It was just the extra frustration on top to call the two numbers to reconcile this bill, not sure what the situation is woth that but it seems like two dentistrys with the same name but different staff? I have no idea, but it didnt help at all.
