1 /5 Saenz Gamas Emmanuel (maymayjr): Scammer beware.
I brought my car to Arboretum Auto Service because on the phone the owner said he could give me a free diagnosis if I fix the car with them, I explained to him I have scanned the obd reader myself and could not find any error codes with the car he said his scanner is different and can find the error message.
All is fine at this point so we take the car in and leave it for about 4 hours, after four hours we call to see if the car has been diagnosed, the owner says they have diagnosed it and it will be $450 to repair and this includes a $125 diagnostic, when I arrive at the shop I ask the owner what is wrong with the car, he explains its an electrical issue with my intake valve on a 2016 hyundai sonata, he explains he has to charge $150 diagnostic for the time they spent to find the issue (yes already $25 more than what was said on the phone and $150 more than the original claim of free diagnosis)
I tell him ok that is fine I will pay the diagnostic fee if he can tell me what work they will do, what part they will replace, what part they will clean etc, Owner acted as if they would perform magic on the car and could not tell me in specifics what they would be doing to the car so I refused to pay until I was told what would be done in specifics.
The owner began to yell and claimed he does not like "customers like you" which Im assuming is a customer that asks questions and is not gullible. He told me to take my keys and my car and to never come back to which I gladly complied with.
This shop seems to be wanting to take advantage of people that dont know any better, there are far more better mechanics in the Austin area. Do not fall for the "great price" "cheap price" scammer language, ask questions and beware.
