1 /5 Michael Steer: To the Owners of Italiano’s,
I am writing to bring to your attention a serious concern regarding the management at your restaurant, specifically involving your manager, Maurico.
During our visit today, we were told the wait would be approximately 45 minutes, which we were perfectly fine with—your food has always been worth it. However, once inside, it became clear that the staff was overwhelmed and lacked direction despite how busy the restaurant was. Throughout this time, Maurico remained behind the bar socializing and drinking with select customers rather than assisting the staff or managing the situation.
After we were seated, we felt rushed to order. Our server later returned to explain that his system was not working correctly and that the manager was unavailable to help. When we looked over, we observed Maurico drinking wine with individuals who appeared to be his family. Our server continued to apologize as we waited roughly 30 minutes before our order was finally entered—only after Maurico briefly addressed the issue. In total, our dinner experience lasted nearly three hours due to the lack of managerial oversight.
Before leaving, we witnessed—and documented—Maurico drinking at a table during peak hours while the restaurant struggled to maintain order.
This level of mismanagement reflects poorly on your establishment and threatens the reputation you’ve worked hard to build. I strongly urge you to review Maurico’s conduct and take corrective action. Without changes, I’m concerned that this location will continue to decline.
