3 /5 Riley C: My wife and son, and I was trying to decide what we wanted to eat. We wanted some good Italian food. Which is a hard thing to find out here. Being of Italian descent ( Sicilian actually), I’m very particular of Italian restaurants I go to. We tried another place in Greenville, long story short, we will not be returning. But we looked around and found that there another non chain restaurant in Greenville. I looked at the reviews on here and had seen that it had four and a half stars. But so did the other place, so that did nothing for me. As we walked in, there wasn’t that many people. Sometimes that good, sometimes not. But we were taken to seats and handed our menus. We were asked about our drinks and we also informed them that this was our first time there so it may be a little bit before we order. To be able to look at the menu fully since it was our first time. It was our waiter’s first day as he also had a shadow of a trainer. He was fine, nervous, but fine. We order our food, I pronounced it in Italian just in fun. It confused the new guy, but then the trainer proceeds to say it’s spelled wrong on the menu. It wasn’t, but just left it at that. My eight year old wants the kids pizza. The trainer describes that it is big compared to other “kids” pizzas. I get the chicken diavolo and my wife gets the chicken Siciliano. Kids pizza? HUGE and he loved it. My loved hers as well. We had asked about the mushrooms they used. The waitress said they are fresh. Which they could have been. But her response was a little hesitant. And I know some places use canned mushrooms. Again, not saying that they used canned, but again the response was hesitant, and we didn’t want to take the risk. She loved it, and I tasted it as well, not bad at all. Now for mine, the sauce looked and tasted off. I apologize in advance, but it tasted like an off brand canned sauce with red pepper flakes thrown in to make it spicy. It tasted and just looked off. Now the chicken in it. It was just two strips of chicken with sauce ladled over it. That’s exactly what it seemed to me. It reminded of those frozen chicken tenders. I knew it was that because a lot times with those tenders, they don’t remove the tendons. Both of my tenders still had the tendon, which leads me to believe the chicken was just removed from the package/bag defrosted and cooked. Though a return visit could still be in the cards, I just won’t be ordering what I ordered. A certain “Italian” chain recently advertised a spicy meat sauce pasta, I believe I would have had a better dish eating there.
