5 /5 Jungle Explorer: If you are looking for great BBQ, look no further than Big Earls. I have been driving by this place on my way to Lubbock from Anson ever since it first opened. I finally stopped to check it out and I am glad I did. As soon as I opened the door of my car, I knew that I had made the right choice. I only thought I was hungry before a smelled the amazing aroma coming from inside the unassuming little roadside stand. The prices are competitive with other BBQ places I have been too, but that is where the similarity stops. Once I got my order, I knew I would be back.
First off, the portions are more than double what I have gotten at any other BBQ joint I have been to. Other places, you pay a lot and you get a little. Not at Big Earls. Here I paid a fair price and I got way more than I could eat, and I am 230lb guy with an apatite to match. Everything I got was fresh and delicious.
From where I live it is about the same distance for me to head to Abilene or to Roby for BBQ. I now know exactly which direction to drive when I get that hankering again. I am heading to Big Earls in Roby.
