1 /5 Debbie Davis: The American Eagle Outlet in Round Rock refused a return (less than two weeks ago purchased, undamaged never worn or even tried on, all tags attached, receipt and the American Express credit card that I purchased the clothing with offered) because I would provide them with my phone number and personal email address. I asked why they needed that information, the first cashier didnt know. The 2nd insisted that they couldnt process my refund without it. I offered the receipt (per their policy) my ID and my Amex (as a courtesy). That wasnt enough. I asked the 2nd cashier to point out (on the written policy on my receipt) where the return policy stipulated I had to provide that info. She refused by saying, "NO! Were not doing this today, girl." I stated that I am not a "girl" I am a 50 year old adult. Then, she threatened to call security on me. When the manager showed up, she neglected to mention trying to weaponize security, but the manager was not able to point out on in their written policy where I had to give them my personal home address, phone number, and email address. I asked them where they had their policy posted in the store and she laughed and said that it was on my receipt. I told that she was supposed to have the return policy posted somewhere by the register (there was no policy posted). She flipped around the register screen to show me that a software program that collects customer data that was blank (there was no policy listed, just a bunch of blank fields for name, address, phone number, email address, etc...). I asked what they were doing with the data that was collected and how I could ensure that it was protected. She laughed and told me to leave that she wouldnt process my return. The most concerning thing is that I was the only person of color in the store, and the 1st cashier processed an exchange of a man who cut in front of me without so asking him for anything other than a receipt. I asked the manager if she was just making up rules for "some people, "and she ignored me. I left, and still have clothes that are too small for my son that need to be returned. The return policy is stated on my receipt. I was never rude or unkind in any way. These people were horrible, and it was clear that I was being singled out in the way that they treated me and my return.
