2 /5 Abraham Zapata: Warning: Question all bills. I was referred to UT Physicians and while the work completed is thorough - theres very questionable billing practices occurring. Due to medical issues, my deductible was met earlier this year. When completing additional recommended examinations, I was charged out of pocket because my insurance information wasnt on file, which turned out to be a direct lie. I explained that my insurance info was placed on file upon my registration, that the deductible was already met and that I should only be charged for *one specific out of pocket test (a very nominal fee) since it was plainly posted NO insurance covered that specific exam. I was charged almost 3 times that amount and couldnt understand why. This all occurred on a Friday afternoon - the following Monday I was alerted by my insurance company that UT charged them for all the tests performed that Friday and it noted that I was not responsible for any charges. I reached out to UT and asked what happened - no explanation was provided - they just offered to put the overcharged funds towards my account or issue a refund. I requested a refund and an explanation as to what happened and while they DID refund, I got a brush off answer that someone would review and possibly reply. As theres been absolutely NO follow up - I want to warn others to watch out and question any charges they may issue. Its apparent theyll charge you, your insurance, pocket the excess funds and not inform you. Very disappointing considering the care. Please be careful out there.
