06-2025 The Present and Future of Harlingen Texas by Diana Kersey in Hight rate 8 location for tourist in Harlingen, TX, USANortheast Texas Rural Heritage Museum - Pittsburg Nicole Brandenburg: Quaint and adorable country museum with some really surprising history! Pittsburg has a lot more recognizable names than I’d realized and this little museum surprised me. Our tour guide Jean was friendly and kept the tour interesting for myself and my 2 kids, ages 8 & 11. When we camp, my daughter loves to go to historical sites and museums and she really enjoyed this one. The airship replica is super cool. The museum is bigger than it looks, and well worth the money and time to make a pit stop here.
Broach Park - Pittsburg Christine B: This is a fun place to play some ball and play on the playground. There are walking trails, tennis courts and many swings. The older portion of the playground needs a little work but it is currently under a remodel and they are adding on. The newer part is nice and has covered picnic tables.
Leaning Tower of Texas - Groom Anderson J. “Jimmy”: Can be seen from the Interstate but it is quick stop to get out and take pictures. There is an old sign nearby with a mini leaning tower on it.
Panhandle Runs on Water Mural - Amarillo Sarah Clark: another wonderful mural by Blank Spaces. This one is right down the street from the Pergola Shop. Really like seeing these murals go up around town, it’s a huge sign of progress amd an investment in our local youth.
Texas State Line Monument - Atlanta Donna Burns: This Monument is a very disappointingHistorical marker. There isnt any signs to point out this very important site. The state of Texas marker is very dirty, such a shame. I recommend the 4-H groups in this County make this monument their number one priority as a community service project.
Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge Museum - Anahuac Leigh Ann Marsh-Bronson: The people are so kind and informative. We homeschool and they are always so sweet to take some time with my kids and add in some education to our trip. The trail is very nice I can even take a stroller on it with ease.
Double Bayou Park - Anahuac Lisa L: Peaceful. The fish were biting but we didnt take any home. Surprisingly no one was out there. We had the whole place to ourselves.
