4 /5 Trey Wilson: The squares main feature is a massive flag that flies over the statue honoring all Gonzales men who fought for Texas Independence. The square is directly across the street from the courthouse and is a great place to have a picnic, with plenty of parking and a few oak trees for shade.

Gonzales Parks & Recreation - Gonzales

henry salas: The park is clean and very scenic reflecting the history of Gonzales, Texas. The park staff who assist you when renting a site are very accommodating and professional. Holly is the greatest!

Independence Park - Gonzales

Lisa Morris: The park is fabulous on a hot day. The swimming pool looks clear and wonderful. Plenty of areas along the water to sit and have a picnic. Fun areas for the kids. Beautiful trees and views of the water.

Gonzales Memorial Museum - Gonzales

Sue Taylor: The museum offered a few historical items, including the ‘Come and Take It’ cannon and a few other Alamo memorabilia pieces. The museum has two sections. One section houses the Alamo items and the other section houses miscellaneous historical items. However, there is very little narrative provided for this second section. So, although the items are interesting, there’s very little context provided. If you happen to be in the area, then it isn’t a bad stop (although a bit pricey for what’s available). We drove almost two hours to visit and were very disappointed with what was offered. It was definitely not worth a long trip.

L A Heath: If you happen to be anywhere near this place, take a quick detour to view this amazing site of Texas history. It is off the main road and behind a fence on private property but easy to see and photograph.

C.S. Roberts House and Museum - Sherman

Centrifugal Muse: Drove far to see this place after checking business hours. Knocked on door. No answer. Kept trying. Double checked hours. Online it showed they were open and wouldn’t close for 2 more hours. Kept knocking. Still no answer, tried door thinking you just walk in. Locked. It was beautiful from the outside, so I gave it two stars just for the outdoor beauty. Would have loved to see the inside. I drove far and would have appreciated correct hours.

Lucy Kidd-Key Park - Sherman

Briana Harris: Large well manicured lawn and stage area provided for outdoor concerts. It was really nice, we all had blankets and lawn chairs, ice chests, and snacks. Very enjoyable, plenty of room.

Brandy Miller: Im visiting my sister and walked this trail around the lake. It was beautiful but there are some spots to watch out for. These trails can be walked alone but take something with you. There are lots of places that people can hide and sneak up on you. Of course, I always hike with many items for my protection, but I still made sure to watch out for others.
