Steven Erkman: We were passing by this town on the way to San Antonio and decided to stop by the Longhorn Museum. It was free with obviously a donation box and it was definitely worth the stop.
For a small town museum it was packed with artifacts, old fashioned exhibits, and history. The new windmill exhibit was open and it was nice.
We spent about 45 minutes here. You could see it all faster or you could read about everything and stay much longer.
Rana El-Zughbi: Newman’s Castle in Bellville, Texas is such a unique and fun experience! The castle is full of character, with many different rooms to explore—each with its own style and charm. My favorite part was climbing all the way to the top and ringing the huge bell! It was such a cool moment.
The staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Just a tip: make your reservation online in advance—they close early and spots can fill up fast. Plan ahead and stop by the bakery in town before heading to the castle; it’s a nice bonus to the trip.
The castle sits on a hill, and you’ll park your car under the trees. Wear something comfy—you’ll be walking on dirt paths and stones. Overall, it was a wonderful outing and a great spot to visit with family or friends, with plenty of nearby places in town to explore afterward.
M: Wonderfully cared for museum with people there having a deep historical knowledge of it.
This was one of my historical day rides on my motorcycle and Im glad I made the trip!
Jeffrey Jones: Interesting place to visit if you have some free time and want to see what West Texas truly used to look like. Going here at the right time of the year you have a better chance of seeing some of the migratory birds that pass through this area which I did not during my visit. Nevertheless, it was still an awesome sight to see Texas wilderness.
Ana Bruja - Khayos: This is a very unique museum. There is a lot to see here. There were a few items Ive never seen it in person before and they were is emaculate condition. Make sure to check out the two headed goat display. Very low paced and very chill museum. Take your time.
ashley cox: My husband and I took a ride with our trail guide Savannah today! It was so much fun. Ron gave us easy to follow directions to the ranch. The horses were friendly and the trail was beautiful. Great for beginners! Payment process and scheduling was easy. Great experience would recommend to anyone visiting the area!
Jackie Mansour: We took our kids here thinking it would be a cute place to go for the morning to see some fun dinosaur stuff. It ended up being way more than that! We loved seeing the dinosaurs outside and digging for the fossils in the sand. Inside, they boys spent time cooling off watching the dinosaur battles and playing with some dinosaur toys.
We were so surprised by the dioramas as well and my boys loved seeing all the animals and searching for the hidden Dino eggs!
The fine art exhibit with beautiful paintings and treasures from Spain was unexpected and beautiful to meander through.
What we expected to be a short visit ended up being almost 2 hours and we loved every minute!
NativeRidge: A nice walk beside the river, very relaxing surrounds a good place to unwind.
The most surprising feature is the Cypress that lines the banks of the river. Who knew Cypress would exist this far north!
