Shoreline Church | North Campus - Austin
Eric Maina: I visited Shoreline Church in early February 2025 with high hopes. The church has a diverse community, engaging preaching, and a fun kids play area with a slide. I really wanted to like it. But my experience with the kids service was disappointing enough that it became my first and last visit. The first thing you notice when you enter the child care center is the sound of crying children. That alone isn’t necessarily a red flag—kids take time to adjust—but what stood out was the lack of adult intervention. When I picked up my 3-year-old, I found out he had been crying for over an hour and he rarely cries especially for such a long time. Despite providing my contact information, no one reached out. That was concerning. The kids’ area seemed to be run mostly by older kids, which isn’t necessarily a problem if there is proper supervision or if they are trained to handle upset children. But it was clear that wasn’t the case. Meanwhile, there were plenty of adults at the church entrance, welcoming newcomers, guiding them through sign-ups, and making sure the visitor experience was smooth—an efficient church funnel. But why not place more of those adults in the child care center, preferably ones who actually enjoy working with kids? After my visit, Jonathan from Shoreline Family Ministries reached out, and I shared my concerns. He assured me he would look into it and follow up. That was back in early February. As of writing this, I have heard nothing. It’s clear they don’t take these concerns seriously. The initial outreach was just a formality—an effort to win over newcomers, not to genuinely address feedback. This was disappointing because the church has potential. It offers many activities and a welcoming environment. But when a church’s child care service fails at the most basic level—ensuring kids feel safe and cared for—it’s a deal-breaker.
Gateway Church, North Austin - Austin
Noah _: Pastor and sermon was pretty good. Covered a lot of bases, digestible by audiences of different faith depth. The worship felt pretty performative and too showy for me. Singers trying to show off their voice and range, moving cameras giving close ups on musicians, etc.
Austin Bible Church - Austin
Tim Wuensche: Pastor has studied in depth and teaches straight from the Bible providing deeper understanding and insight rarely found.
Riverbend Church - Austin
Jack Stevenson: Love the church. Pastor is a great guy and the members are very friendly. Work schedule makes it hard to visit on regular basis but I enjoy going on the rare Sunday I have off. Great church that is really doing it the way Christ commanded. I grew up in a IBF church/school and it kind of made me not like church for a very long time so I just didnt go. Anyway, lovely place and hopefully I get a Sunday off soon. Otherwise I will definitely be there on Christmas Eve. Keep doing the great work.

James Cantu: Best Church in Austin! Pastor Michael teaches the word of God. He speaks truth and uses scripture to back it up! Their worship service is phenomenal! Jasmin (Jas) is an amazing worshipper who brings you into the presence of God. Very clean and new building! Awesome kids programs! Fun for the whole family! My family truly enjoy the teachings, the love, and friendship of North Village Church. I highly recommend.
Hillcrest Church - Austin
Hillcrest Church
Tom&Meg Callahan: This is a bible centered church filled with the spirit of the Lord. Every Sunday we worship our Lord and savior and hear from God’s word. Tom Goodman, the head Pastor, is truly a man after God’s own heart. While retaining biblical values, he still knows Gods heart and reflects that by meeting people where they are at on their walk with God, and walks along side of them. My husband and I have been coming to Hillcrest for 1 month and we have never felt more welcomed into a church.

FromMyRightEye: If you are wealthy and white like the members, they are superficially nice. If you are struggling they wont help you. I opened up about my struggles and the pastor marginalized me saying, I was being punished like a child by God, but, you would not understand that since you never had children. And because, Jesus suffered and died for me, my pain and suffering is justified. Thats not a loving God and a compassionate pastor. Also, I was told they are not set up to help financially and this place is huge like a box store.

Barb Dorris: Today was my first time at HCBC and I was welcomed with open arms. The worship service was phenomenal! And the service was wonderful!! Thank you for giving me a church to call home
The ROCK ATX - Austin
Rachel D: This church has given me a brand new life- literally. I have never experienced love, community, knowledge, and growth like I have in my 2 years being here. Looking at other reviews, it sucks that one experience with an over protective member has turned people away, because that doesnt reflect the spirit of the body. If you are curious about God, Jesus, Christianity at all (I came in an atheist), I highly recommend just stopping in and really listening. Your life will never be the same.

Andree Kurniawan: They got both the truth and the living that I was looking for. These are genuine lovers of Jesus. They definitely know the Bible and live by it. No hypocrisy. Lots of love and Im very thankful I got to meet them! (Pic: Reminiscing the picnic in the back lawn before the pandemic)
