5 /5 Phillip Lucas: Well, if San Antonio has its River Walk, then Austin has The River Run! Hundreds of joggers in packs as large as 12 on the hunt for early retirement of their leg joints bustle up and down both sides of the river here. I was stunned as I rolled into the parking lot to see how busy it was at 6:30 am on a Saturday summer morning. With the temps hitting 97 today, I dot blame them. Hot, sweaty young bodies fill the lanes for everyone to see, but thats not why I am here. I explore, you see, I travel for work and while on the company dime, I see as much of America that I can possibly take in a few hours at a time. Austin to me looks beautiful. Lou Neff was the pinnacle of observation for my stay here. Its a great place to end up, with places like the pool, mini railroad for the kids, and multitudes of other attractions. Parking on the weekends is free until 8 am, I suggest you get here early before full sun rise to take some lovely pictures of the Austin skyline with the Colorado River in the foreground.

5 /5 Mr. No Tengo Dinero: Nice look out place to see the river as well as the city of Austin in background! Cool place to be and they should fix the lower lock out space!

5 /5 Jesse Roman: Good resting spot. Relatively scenic. Its a corner on the sidewalk to Barton springs pool. Theres a canoe rental place at the end. Classic Austin.

Texas Capitol Visitors Center - Austin

Sorna Chocks: We went on a Sunday, the free tours start from 12:30PM it was informative. The building has so much history, it is well maintained and cleaned, we loved it. Got a chance to see the courtroom, library and assembly! Perfect photoshoot location! The parking garage is very close to the building, it was free on Sunday.

Mueller Lake Park - Austin

Mai Pham: This park is my favorite place to hang out with friends and walk my dog. There’s a beautiful picnic area where we enjoy nice walks, especially when the sun comes out. It also has a great playground for children. This park is my go-to spot when I need a peaceful walk or a break. There’s plenty of free parking next to the park, including a parking garage. It’s also surrounded by lots of restaurants where you can grab a quick bite or drink. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to relax, take a walk, or spend time with friends. I had the chance to go to the Water Lantern Festival in Austin here at Mueller Lake Park , and it was absolutely beautiful. Everyone wrote messages, hopes, or memories on lanterns and released them onto the water. When the sun went down and all the lanterns started floating and glowing, it felt magical ,peaceful, emotional, and full of meaning. It was such a special experience to share with others. Seeing all those lights on the water felt like a reminder of connection, love, and letting go. If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it.

Dwight Smith: We got see it all lit up for the Longhorns Softball National Championship. Id never gotten to see it like that. It was very cool.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park - Laredo

Kent Harper: I visited mid-May on a weekend and the park was very busy. However, I got a campsite and aside from being not quite level it was nice enough. Wonderful hot water showers! The restroom was clean and fully functional. They have quiet hours at this park, and in fairness, the music did stop in about 9:00 at night, but there were people talking every time I woke up until morning. Oh, and there were some wild hogs fighting right behind my campsite! I found that a bit entertaining, but I suppose not everyone would appreciate it. LOL. Overall, its a pretty nice place to spend the night.

Republic of the Rio Grande Museum - Laredo

John Shelton: The best little must see of early TEXAS history. Confederate history and Laredo TX history. Great building I hope they restore the roof on soon. Cost 2 bucks but worth more. I liked everything about it and will return some day.

Imaginarium of South Texas - Laredo

Alyssa Hernandez: A great place for children to play and explore however I’d wish it was organized. I’m debating getting a membership and did not like that some of the toys were not functional 100% (suction of ball vacune tunnel was subpar) some were jumbled with others stations it was obvious the cleanliness and organization is not a priority. In my experience organization although not synonymous with children… invites for more play. I organize my sons playroom daily and notice he plays much more and really engages when I do this.

Slaughter Park - Laredo

Joshua Steele: Large park with great trails through the woods. Some are even paved. There is also a nice 2 story playground with multiple slides. Clean restrooms, baseball fields, football fields , covered basketball court, large parking lot, exercise equipment and drinking fountains. There is even a snack stand open during certain game times. The parking lot can get packed when the schools have their football games. Even the streets become impassable. There is a water fountain park, but it hasnt been working in a few years.
