5 /5 Donna Bollenbach: I came to Houston to support my son, who faces a challenging medical diagnosis. I needed to help him navigate the medical system during this difficult time. He lives in a one-bedroom apartment across the street from Levy Park, which has been a lifesaver for me.
Levy Park is a vibrant urban nature space that features a dog park, a rain garden, a childrens park, and beautiful landscaping. It is a place to connect and play, all for free. The park is filled with trees and flowers, creating a lovely environment. Nearly every morning, I go to the park and walk 2 to 3 miles. It brings great joy to see families, couples, and people with their dogs enjoying the park.
The park has various tables and chairs. Some are designed for lounging, while others are perfect for socializing and eating takeout, but many people simply lie a blanket on the grassy hills and enjoy a picnic. On the same block as the park are a coffee shop, a restaurant/bar, and a Mexican hut offering tacos, burritos, and more, along with frozen margaritas.
There are also games like ping pong, a tiny putting green for kids, board games, reading material for kids and adults, corn hole, and so much more.
