Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site - El Paso (TX)

5 /5 Tom Cooke: Fascinating area and great campground. The campground is small, 20 sites, I was in #2. Most look to be pretty level, although for the sites that back up to the mountain, the site is narrow with picnic table at the rear which is in a nice pavilion. I should have done a little more research and spent a day there on the guided hikes, 10,000 years of human visits. Including 2 folks who carved their names at the campsite in 66. When do they become interesting to the archeologists?

5 /5 Warren Lara: Its a neat place for climbing, hiking, and sight seeing. There is a lot to discover in this place and the people working there are nice. Its even better when you have a guide like Julian, who is clearly very knowledgeable of the park and will guide you to some of the best places that Hueco Tanks has to offer. I cant emphasize how brilliant Julian was as a guide. Hes full of cool facts about the place and knows how to get people all over the place safely. Anyone visiting this place needs to understand that they need to be at least a little bit fit physically because some places are challenging to get to, but they are worth it.

5 /5 Demetria Walker: Went on a guided tour with a friend! The ranger was great! She didn’t pressure anyone to do any activity that they were not comfortable doing. We even saw a group of javelinas in the park before our tour started. Be sure to stop at the headquarters office to pay when entering the park, and stop in to let them know when you leave the park. I don’t recommend hiking here when it is too hot outside.

5 /5 Graham Lees: Chris and I were fortunate enough to spend three nights at Hueco Tanks SP and it was an exceptional experience. From the call in booking process, to check in, facilities, scenery, serenity and hiking options, it was simply wonderful. Every member of the team were exceptionally helpful and kind, but we should call out Nicole, who led a hiking tour, to view the various historic images scattered around the park. Nicole is extremely knowledgeable and conveys the deep attachment that past and current groups have to this unusual and inspirational place.

5 /5 Elaine H: First thing on check-in is you watch a film. Nothing really informative if you are a responsible follow the rules kinda person so thanks to those that are not everyone has to watch this film. Beautiful views lots of historical info. Only a few RV sites with adequate space between sites. Lots of hikes without leaving park. Boulder climbing is allowed and accounts for most of traffic.
