06-2025 Uniroyal Gal in Hight rate 15 location for tourist in El Paso, TX, USA (part 2)Houston Park - El Paso Gabriel Lucero: Had to take advantage of the nice day; grandson & grandfather, still "gettin it done".
El Paso Graffiti - El Paso Martha Ramirez: We were for the Southwest Lowrider Councils 2nd Annual toy run give away. We were here and then cruised all the way to Fox Plaza flea market. This was awesome.
El Paso Tin Mines - El Paso Andrey Solovyev: The trail itself is not difficult, with nice views of the city, mountains, and yuccas, but the highlight is of course the old tin mines. The end of the AllTrail route is not the entrance to the mines. As you climb the mountain, you will pass metal grates on the left. The first entrance is behind the bottom (left) grate. Once you get under the grate, you will see the metal railings and the entrance to the tunnel. To find the second entrance, follow the wooden steps in the ground down the slope and soon you will come to a small door. You have to crawl to get inside, but the tunnels themselves are quite high. At 5 ft 9 in, my brother was able to stand and walk freely most of the time. There were no truly claustrophobic sections. The tunnels are dark, dusty, and have sharp rocks on the floor, so bring flashlights or headlamps and sturdy boots. The tunnels aren’t very long, and while there are a few forks, it’s not a maze in which one can get lost. It took us a total of 3 hours to get there, explore the mines, and return back to the car. On a weekday morning in May, we encountered only one mountain biker. We paid the fee ($5 per person) in cash using an envelope at the trailhead at Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park, but we could have paid it online and written the reservation number on a permit.
Memorial Park - el paso - El Paso Jessica Parker: Wonderful park! Tennis courts are nice and clean with benches inside, play area was awesome with a portable potty next to it. Amazing hills with well established trees everywhere. Will definitely be returning soon!
Tom Lea Upper Park - El Paso Michele Ellington: Went by to check out the new dog park. Advance scout for a Great Dane Meetup that well be having tomorrow. Its very very nice as El Paso dog parks go, no shade as usual. But excellent fencing, excellent airlocks, water fountains for humans and dogs. Comfortable benches and grass. Set inside the park so if a dog should get loose, they wont be headed directly into a busy Street. Parking lot in between the dog park and the regular park. So convenient parking. Nice amenities at the park for families. Playground, large picnic pavilion. Very clean and nice Park. Hope it stays that way.
Main Overlook Point - Franklin Mountain - El Paso Marcel Marta: A beautiful highway leading through the Franklin mountain ranges, sunrises and sunsets are especially alluring.
Be careful on this highway however as the roads are curvy and other drivers may be reckless. Accidents here are far from infrequent.
Historic Boundary Marker - El Paso Dawn J: We appreciated the opportunity to see the location of the original border with Mexico and Rio Grande path. The QR code on the sign linked to the park website, which gave more info on the significance of this location. It is good to realize that Mother Nature doesnt adhere to political borders.
Note that the visitor center is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Vista Del Valle Park - El Paso Reuben Reyes: Nice small park that is well maintained. It has a jogging/walking track around the park. Open fields for picnic or sports play. A basketball court and kids covered playground. A few picnic tables are here also. I enjoy the scenery here while taking a leisurely stroll around the park.
