Sylvan Beach Park - La Porte
Sylvan Beach Park
Esther O: update: 5/21, both sides of the beach are now open. the pier is still damaged and closed off. I visited here 5/14/25. As of right now: • The right side of the beach is closed off but the picnic tables are open to sit at. This side of the beach is nice if you want quiet. I sat at a picnic table, shaded, and read a book with nothing but the sound of the waves and seagulls in my ear. • The pier is damaged and thus, closed. • The left side of the beach is open. The sandy area is pretty small but you if you can find a spot, you can place a beach blanket or chair and relax or swim. I didn’t get in the water so i can’t speak of the temperature or depth. There are shaded and unshaded picnic tables on this side as well. • You can fish from the sidewalk on either side of the pier. Overall, a nice place to get away and relax and/or swim. I like it here. bathrooms are clean too quick is a rare plus.

San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site - La Porte
San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site
Joe B: The battleground was a fun time. We stopped here and ran around the park seeing many birds, turtles, and other things. The actual museum was closed during our visit, however we could still walk around the outside and the rest of the park. They are currently doing some construction/updating to part of the park, so there should be some extra things to view in the coming months. I assume this might be from the lack of being "open" but the bathroom, which is open without a door, was accompanied by a massive wolf spider roughly the size of an adults fist and large frog in the paper towel dispenser where the towels should be. Anyhow, the battleground is very scenic and beautiful, just keep your eyes open on the bathrooms if you use them.
Baytown Historical Museum - Baytown

Lucy Holmes: The door was open, and we walked in, starting to look around when a lady greates us and said the museum was closed due to a meeting. No signs posted and door open. However, the museum had lots of history! I explained that we were traveling to see museums, and if you are not open, post it. Some people like us drive hours to read about the history. She advised that all locals knew the hours were changed.
Baytown Nature Center - Baytown
Baytown Nature Center
Mike He: I was glad that I found Baytown Nature Center when I was in town trying to find a place to go to and have fun. This beautiful place with spectacular views didnt let me down, though a few dilapidated fishing piers need to be repaired or renovated. The nature center is a perfect place for fishing, bird watching, picnic and other family activities. Due to time constraints, I didnt get a chance to hike on many of its nature trails. That might give me a reason to go back.
Fred Hartman Bridge - Baytown

Hari Kanna: On my journey from Houston to Galveston, I had the incredible experience of crossing this stunning bridge! Its towering height and majestic structure are truly awe-inspiring, offering breathtaking views and a sense of wonder as you travel across. It’s one of those places that leaves a lasting impression, making the drive unforgettable. A must-travel road and an iconic experience in Houston, Texas—don’t miss it!
Hog Island - Baytown
Richard Barkley: So many hogs. Idk how they swam there though.
Pirates Bay Waterpark - Baytown

Emily Pena: Friendly staff, take their jobs very seriously. From checking in and making sure your children’s life vests are certified to remaining vigilant while they are in the water. All smiling and very personable. Clean bathrooms and water. Only recommendation is that they may need to offer more tubes. No where near enough for the amount of people floating the lazy river on busy days.
