barber shop. Just the equipment they use is much lower quality. It was a basic cut and still turned out sub par compared to a men’s barbershop.
Solutions - San Marcos Crystal Myers: Veronica is a very nice person, but I would NOT recommend her for a balayage. The hair treatment she gave me not only looked nothing like the picture I gave her, but it was also very poorly executed. The application style was extremely chunky, uneven, and even worse had "leopard spots" in several areas. The top looked like tiger stripes. When I went to another salon to have it fixed, they said there were areas that were left on too long and others not enough. As you look at the deeper layers of my hair, you can see the bleach was applied in random diagonal lines. Definitely not the quality you expect from any stylist let alone an experienced one.
The other salon was able to fix the high stripes but because of the random application of the bleach they had to return it all pretty much to brown and start over. I have to wait 6-8 weeks for my hair to heal before the other salon can give me a new blond balayage. I am getting engaged in a few weeks, which is why I wanted my hair done in the first place, and now I will not have my hair done for day of my engagement.
Although she gave me a PARTIAL refund, it did not cover the repair costs and definitely is not going to cover the second good salon visit for a proper balayage. Even if she did give it all back, the additional repairs are going to cost me over $150 more than what I would have paid if it was done right the first time.
Again super nice women, but I would NOT recommend her for any hair treatment.
AKYA - AVEDA Concept Salon - San Marcos Cindy Olen: My first time due to relocating to the area and needed an Aveda salon as my longtime stylist provided my color formula. Niel was on point with the color and the cut was one of the best I have had in years!! (dont tell my last stylist!!) So glad I found this place and Niel is very amazing in every way.
Salon Therapy - San Marcos Stephanie Waskow: I always have the most relaxing time at Salon Therapy- with Mandy Bayer! The salon is super clean, laid back and comfortable. Mandy works with my busy schedule (and hers) to get me in her chair to work her magic and for me to disengage for some hair therapy! Thank you, Mandy for always being so professional, sweet and treating me with the upmost respect- I love my chair time with you!
Monroe - San Marcos Emilie Gartman: My wedding day is coming up in less two weeks and I was wanting a fuller look to my hair! Brittany recommended a few ways we could add hair to reach the hairstyle I wanted day of! Honestly islt turned out way better than expected. I have really fine and thin hair and I was scared Id be able to see the extensions around my scalp. These are very light weight and are not noticeable. Im so glad i got them, they look so good!!
Olivia Presley - San Marcos Autumn McGowan: Juliana fixed my roots for me and was so sweet! I usually go to Houston to get my hair done but I’m definitely been converted! 10/10 service and professionalism.
Hair Fitness Salon - San Marcos Melanie Irish: I was referred here by a friend. I got my hair cut here twice, and was very happy with how it came out. After that I started feeling like I didnt matter. When your appointment is blown off because a quick getaway is more important, and then you keep getting told that the schedule is booked and you have to wait. Meanwhile over a month has gone by and your hair keeps looking worse and worse. Then youre passed off to the other hairdressers. One of them gets back to you the next day saying, she is booked, and the other hairdresser never gets back to you at all. Please dont waste your time going here. Your business wont matter.
MAMBO HAIR STUDIO - San Marcos Angelica Young: Highly recommend! I got a big chop-- shoulder length to a Leonardo Dicaprio type cut and wow! My stylist was so kind and attentive, offered me water, and said I could come back for some extra adjustments in the days coming forward if I noticed anything! Quiet and stress free as well-the atmosphere is really great.
Hometown - San Marcos brittany: First time haircut w Paloma! Rebooked and will continue to come back. Amazing artist and great person! She took time and detail with my haircut! Thanks Paloma!
MINK - San Marcos Val: I had an amazing experience getting my first lash lift with Lara! She was so informative, friendly, and made sure to communicate every step of the way. I even received a thoughtful text the next day checking in to see how my lashes were doing! The process was quick and easy, yet so relaxing that I almost dozed off. Lara created the perfect atmosphere with calming music and soothing scents, it felt like a true spa experience and I’m happy with my results. Highly recommend!
