Goose Island State Park - Rockport (TX)

5 /5 Bo Hundt: We love it cant wait to come back. Very clean well taken cared of. Wooded camp sites very private and secluded. DEER Everywhere. Fact is it saw more deer than anything else. Fishing was good wrong bait Im sure would have been dolphins but not when were fishing had one stayed at pier entire night. All in all one of best state parks we have visited. And dont forget to say hello to the big tree.

5 /5 Tommy Snider: Goose Island SP is like no other. Be sure to read about it and review before going. It is great for bird watching and fishing. Don’t expect to do much else here. No beach, very windy. It is great for what it is.

5 /5 P. L. Pennington: Goose Island is a great place to camp or for day use. There is plenty to do and see, the views from Bayside campsites are hard to beat! You can hear airboats sometimes but that typically is obnoxious to me. Wi-Fi can be spotty and the mosquitoes are rough.

1 /5 earl meck: To explain this rating. The park itself is great. The staff is not friendly and outright rude. My motorcycle broke down while camping and my daughter had to drive down to pick me and it up with a small flatbed. When she arrived at the gate she explained she was just picking me up and leaving, about 10 minutes. The 2 ladies working at the gate said they would still have to charge her a $5 entry fee because they had no idea if she would be using the park all day or not, even though she told them she would be back in 10 minutes and stop at the gate so they would know. The lady then walked into the office with the $5 dollars. When she came back out, she saw a dog in the truck. She then said it would be $10 dollars to get in and would not let her enter without paying $10 dollars. All of this was said with a very bad attitude and in a rude manner. They showed no trust, and definitely no compassion. We were loaded in under 10 minutes and out of there before check out time. I have stayed at many texas state parks and have always left feeling great about it. These 2 lady employees are horrible as the face of this park. Oh, BTW,I leather drive around staff know my bike was not driveable but that I had a ride coming. They had said no problem but it seems thats not the case. I only mentioned and pointed out that it was 2 middle aged ladies, with glasses, in hopes that their supervisors may read this. It was on 4/13/2025 @ about 1100. If I could rate them at no stars I would.

5 /5 Janimal: Beautiful. We camped on the wooded loop for more privacy between sites. Clean showers and bathrooms with hot water too! Great little nature trail, so many birds and viewing spots. A short bike ride to the fishing pier and kayak rental kiosk. Electric hookups make it a peaceful experience without having to listen to RV generators 24/7. Waterfront campsites had a beautiful bay view and a shade structure but with car traffic to the pier and few trees leave you out in the open. The fan boats launching at 4am were LOUD, even where we were camped away from the boat ramp. Audible even through my earplugs and van walls, but my nephews didn’t hear a thing in their tent. Bring earplugs if you wake easily. Visit the Big Tree, too! The oldest tree in Texas! Highly recommend Goose Island State Park. We will be back!
