Garza County Historical Museum - Post Amy Behm: This is a little gem!! So cool. I learned so much about Post, Tx and Garza county. A great place to spend an hour in yesteryear and gain a greater appreciation for this little town and its heritage and its direct link to the rest of America today! Come to find out CW Post (Post cereals) and daughter Marjorie Merriweather Post (the wealthiest woman in US at the time and original owner of Mar-a-Lago) were its founding roots.
O S Ranch Museum - Post Les Kuehl: We were passing through town and stopped by for a personalized tour of the impressive art collection. Open on Thursdays and Fridays - located upstairs and around the corner from Main Street above the antique store. Donations are appreciated.
Pioneer Museum - Fredericksburg Doug Weber: This was the highlight of our trip to Fredericksburg this spring. It featured a short video about the trials and tribulations the first settlers went through to settle here. Several historical structures and lots of original artifacts throughout the collection show how life in the early days of Texas flourished.
Old Tunnel State Park - Fredericksburg sam lopez: beautiful park! went with my boyfriend to see the bats come out and it was amazing!! got there just before 7pm to go look around and listen to the speaker. the bats started coming out around 8:13pm and lasted about 13 minutes. the guides/volunteers were super friendly and well informed!
Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park - Fredericksburg Kim Everett: Fantastic municipal park. Pull through Sites can be used either way you choose. Utilities are on both sides and two picnic tables. Wide grassy between sites.
Small garden with native flowers and butterfly garden tended by volunteers.
Bathrooms are individual and large clean showers.
Not far from downtown. We took an Uber to downtown. So we could enjoy wine and beer.
There is a municipal airport adjacent and you will see and hear the planes. Mostly small craft and fun to watch. Dont recall hearing them after settling in for the night. We didnt find them a nuisance.
River for fishing. This is a municipal park so theres ball fields and a large swimming pool. Picnic area, etc.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area - Fredericksburg Amber Dutton: Beautiful place for a hike and well maintained park. I would recommend going earlier or later in the day to avoid the Texas heat. This is NOT an entry level hike even though it is a short one. The incline is steep and slippery. Make sure you come prepared with hydration, hiking boots/shoes with traction and weather appropriate clothing.
There are spots to camp for the night or daily hike. Restrooms and showers are available. Snow Cone Trailer is located at the base of the hiking loop and a nice treat for a big hike!
