06-2025 Pioneer Museum in Hight rate 14 location for tourist in Fredericksburg, TX, USALady Bird Johnson Municipal Park - Fredericksburg Kim Everett: Fantastic municipal park. Pull through Sites can be used either way you choose. Utilities are on both sides and two picnic tables. Wide grassy between sites.
Small garden with native flowers and butterfly garden tended by volunteers.
Bathrooms are individual and large clean showers.
Not far from downtown. We took an Uber to downtown. So we could enjoy wine and beer.
There is a municipal airport adjacent and you will see and hear the planes. Mostly small craft and fun to watch. Dont recall hearing them after settling in for the night. We didnt find them a nuisance.
River for fishing. This is a municipal park so theres ball fields and a large swimming pool. Picnic area, etc.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area - Fredericksburg Amber Dutton: Beautiful place for a hike and well maintained park. I would recommend going earlier or later in the day to avoid the Texas heat. This is NOT an entry level hike even though it is a short one. The incline is steep and slippery. Make sure you come prepared with hydration, hiking boots/shoes with traction and weather appropriate clothing.
There are spots to camp for the night or daily hike. Restrooms and showers are available. Snow Cone Trailer is located at the base of the hiking loop and a nice treat for a big hike!
Grape Creek Vineyards - Fredericksburg Brandi Sherman: Just visited Grape Creek Vineyards and what an experience! This winery is the perfect blend of fresh, modern elegance and timeless Texas charm.
We had the pleasure of being guided by Melanie Marchant, our wine steward, and she was absolutely fabulous — knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire tasting feel like a curated journey.
Every wine we tried was beautifully crafted — crisp, clear, and full of flavor. The food pairings? Phenomenal. Each bite elevated the tasting experience and paired perfectly with the wines.
If you’re looking for a refined, relaxing, and truly memorable winery visit, I highly recommend Grape Creek Vineyards. A hidden gem!
National Museum of the Pacific War - Fredericksburg Nick McConnell: I was looking forward to seeing the indoor displays, I knew the library was being renovated but didnt know the interior planes were as well. That was a bummer, though the museum did mention you can come back when its done and see it free. Only slight downside is that Im from 1000+ miles away.
This is an awesome museum for kids who love learning, exploring, and playing games. The museum had a lot of interactive full fledged electronic games, even for adults. There was quite a bit of work put into the games, LOVED the 1-2 player submarine game, that was awesome.
I was straight suffering with the humidity outdoors, seeing this museum in summer wasnt a great idea. The location to an excessive amount of food options was however a great idea. There are 2-3 gift shops for this museum, all with different items.
Its worth checking out, would HIGHLY recommend you go during cooler months, theres a lot to see outdoors.
Wildseed Farms - Fredericksburg Belynda Warner: The cool thing about Wildseed Farms, to me, is that it’s a different experience depending on when you go! Early in the season, fewer bloom varieties. Later, more varieties and more butterflies. I’m surprised to see lower reviews based on amount of flowers! It’s a farm! Anyway… what doesn’t change is the charm of the shops and gorgeous tasting room and patio.
Also, they are PET FRIENDLY! Including indoors. Major plus. RV parking in the park part of the huge lot. This is one of my favorite places. Charming.
Fort Martin Scott State Historic Site - Fredericksburg Renat Ibragimov: I really liked the Fort. I made a special rider from Austin tonwalk arpund and see how things were in the 1850’s.
and loved tge stories of soldiers’ lives, the hardship and the overcoming.
also, the lovely lady gave us a lecture on how butter used to be made and thread ys to
milk and crackera with freshely made butter!
thanks a lot!
Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site - Stonewall Heather Austin: This is a FREE learning experience! The house was closed for renovations. However, we saw various other historical buildings. This is also the site where LBJ and family are buried beneath majestic oak trees. We visited in May, so there were plenty of wildflowers to enjoy. The park rangers were super nice. I bought a tshirt and a magnet.
Majesty Tours - Fredericksburg Kay Ce: Such a great experience for such a great price! We did the diamond tour for my cousins birthday which was going to 4 different wine venues and also included getting lunch. We had such a blast! Our driver Logan was really kind and very communicative on everything. He also made us laugh quit a bit. I would highly recommend this tour for any type of celebration or just because.
Cross Mountain - Kevin Holladay: Nice place to stop for a picnic. The bathrooms are very clean and nice. We didnt hike up to the cross as we had spent the morning hiking at Enchanted Rock.
Vereins Kirche Museum - Fredericksburg Andrew Carlisle: Part of the Pioneer Museum, the Vereins Kirche Museum focuses on the history of Fredericksburg and the Meusebach-Comanche Treaty. Excellent presentations and beautiful grounds. It is a few blocks from the Pioneer Museum but I would recommend visiting both of the museums. You can buy tickets at either location and they are good for both.
